Overview

The International SOF Support SME will provide subject matter expertise gained through operational experience within U.S. Special Operations Forces, Geographic Combatant Commands (GCCs), Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and multinational SOF organizations. The successful candidate will support planning, coordination, and execution of international SOF activities while fostering collaboration with U.S. Government agencies, NATO organizations, coalition partners, and allied Special Operations Forces.

Working closely with USSOCOM leadership and international stakeholders, this individual will support multinational planning efforts, foreign disclosure processes, partner nation engagements, and coalition information sharing to enable successful global SOF operations.

This position is located onsite at USSOCOM Headquarters, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

Duties & Responsibilities

The International SOF Support SME will:
  • Provide operational and planning support to the USSOCOM J3 International Division.
  • Support multinational Special Operations planning, coordination, and execution activities.
  • Coordinate with Geographic Combatant Commands (GCCs), Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), NATO organizations, coalition headquarters, U.S. Embassies, and partner nation military organizations.
  • Support international SOF engagements, exercises, conferences, working groups, and planning events.
  • Assist with development of operational plans, campaign support activities, engagement strategies, and multinational initiatives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on coalition operations, partner nation capability development, and multinational SOF integration.
  • Facilitate coordination between U.S. and allied SOF organizations to improve interoperability and mission effectiveness.
  • Support Foreign Disclosure processes and ensure information sharing complies with applicable U.S. Government policies and international agreements.
  • Develop executive correspondence, briefing materials, white papers, reports, and decision support products for Government leadership.
  • Analyze operational requirements, regional security environments, and multinational coordination challenges to support informed decision-making.
  • Maintain situational awareness of global SOF activities, international partnerships, and emerging operational priorities.
  • Support knowledge management, continuity of operations, and organizational collaboration across the J3 International Division.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Government personnel, coalition partners, and international stakeholders.


Qualifications

Clearance Requirement

Education
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience (Required)
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience supporting Special Operations, joint military operations, or international defense activities.
  • Graduate of a U.S. Special Operations Forces selection and assessment program, including the U.S. Army Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC), BUD/S, or another equivalent SOF qualification program.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of recent (within the last five years) combat or operational experience supporting the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Afghanistan mission or a comparable multinational special operations environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent (within the last seven years) experience serving on a Geographic Combatant Command (GCC) or Theater Special Operations Command (TSOC) staff.
  • Graduate of a Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) course, Intermediate Development Course (IDC), or Senior Professional Military Education (SPME) program.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience supporting an international SOF organization, such as NATO Special Operations Headquarters, a coalition coordination center, or other multinational SOF headquarters.
  • Experience supporting Foreign Disclosure processes and international information-sharing activities.
  • Experience coordinating with coalition partners, foreign militaries, and multinational organizations in support of Special Operations missions.
