Your opportunity:

Working under the general direction of the Manager, International Student Recruitment, the International Recruitment Officer plays a key role in the Engineering Student Recruitment & Outreach Office. The incumbent will be responsible for contributing to student recruitment with a focus on advancing the international engineering student recruitment portfolio and enhancing access and enrolment opportunities for underrepresented student populations; improving the international and underrepresented student experience throughout the application and admissions process; and contributing to strategic initiatives that support the Faculty's enrolment goals and student engagement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Fostering and maintaining a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies and delivering student recruitment presentations
  • Determining appropriate schools to visit based on an analysis of feedback and market trends while conducting market research and developing strategies to increase the number, quality, and yield of international students and engineering students from underrepresented groups
  • Collaborating on developing and implementing annual and multi-year recruitment strategies and plans.
  • Promoting programs at recruitment events
  • Leading and managing the planning and running of a variety of international student recruitment events that are designed to achieve the Faculty's student recruitment goals
  • Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
  • Keeping well-informed on University programs, policies and procedures and staying abreast of changes in international education systems and standards

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years recent and relevant experience in international student recruitment.
  • Experience engaging and working with diverse populations through the application of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles to foster inclusive environments and dismantle systemic barriers.
  • Experience delivering engaging and dynamic presentations to both large and small audiences, effectively capturing attention and sparking interest.
  • Experience leading and coordinating student recruitment events and workshops.
  • Demonstrated understanding of secondary and university level education and programs, including engineering programs.
  • Excellent student information systems (e.g. ROSI) skills, Admissions/Enrollment systems (e.g. Slate) skills and data analysis and visualization tools skills (e.g. Tableau).
  • Proven success in establishing relationships with targeted individuals and conveying salient information.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint), and Mac platform, (Keynote) or equivalent systems.
  • Superior communication (oral, written and presentation) skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effective to a diverse range of audience including but not limited to students, academics, teachers and parents.
  • Proven relationship management, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service using remarkable interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Proven ability to practice strong professionalism, tact, discretion, initiative, and sound judgment under pressure and stress.
  • Demonstrated ability to be assertive and persuasive in establishing relationships with targeted individuals and conveying salient information to a wide range of audience.
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and produce results in high pressure situations and under tight timelines with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, ability to travel nationally and internationally for several weeks, and maintain a valid Ontario driver's license and valid passport.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and work environment.
