Overview
The Operations Manager is a senior-level, fast-paced logistics position requiring a proactive leader with a minimum of 5 years of strong, functional industry experience, having responsibility for managing complex supply chains, resolve bottlenecks, while overseeing both clerical and warehouse staff, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and company standards.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for establishing and executing company strategy related to domestic and international freight movements through an understanding of industry trends and best practices.
• Oversees daily marine and project services, supplying logistics for ship owners, ship management companies, and repairs.
• Recruit, develop and motivate staff to provide a world class customer experience while meeting or exceeding client expectations.
• As providers of a white glove service, the Operations Manager ensures the Miami office has the necessary tools in place to succeed and expand their business levels in international product lines in a sustained and consistent fashion.
• The position works with current and prospective logistics services providers and internal Priano Marchelli and AIT functions to develop the best overall strategy. Execution of those strategies includes establishing, measuring, and managing to applicable metrics with service providers, vendors and internal Priano Marchelli and AIT functions that ensures a timely and efficient flow of product for customers, worldwide.
Qualifications
Education Qualifications:
• High School Degree/GED and relevant work experience
Experience Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years - strong functional and logistical expertise in the shipping industry
Skills and Abilities:
• Specialized knowledge in freight forwarding, custom brokerage, warehousing, and emergency shipments.
• Analytical thinking, technical proficiency (MS Office Required, Cargowise preferred) and strong communication skills to manage complex, fast paced supply chains.
• Inventory management, vendor negotiation, knowledge of maritime regulations and urgent supply shortages.
• The ability to evaluate data, forecast demand, and rapidly resolve unforeseen logistical bottlenecks is crucial.
• Familiarity with shipping documentation, customs regulations and safety codes is critical.
• High accuracy in managing inventory and tracking is key to success as are negotiation and inventory management skills (sourcing, managing relationships with suppliers and negotiating contracts).
• Experience collaborating across multiple streams and lines of business, while influencing key stakeholders is critical to success.
• While overseeing a diverse and talented group of both clerical and warehouse staff, the role requires strong people leadership skills, executing Priano Marchelli and AIT expectations and deliverables.
