Full Job Description
International Logistics & Warehousing POD Leader
Location: Remote Reports to: Head of Global Logistics POD Spend Under Management: $100M+

Why This Role Exists
Ingersoll Rand spends approximately $250 million annually on freight - across a complex, multi-business-unit footprint spanning North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. Until now, that spend has operated without a dedicated Global Logistics function, unified strategy, or shared enterprise standards.
That changes now.
We are building a world-class Global Logistics function from the ground up - organized around four PODs, each led by a direct report to the Head of Global Logistics. The International Logistics & Warehousing POD is the most complex andhighest-risk.
This role owns $100M+ in international & 3PLfreight spend - Ocean FCL/LCL, heavyweight air, freight forwarding, warehousing, drayage, and customs brokerage - across all nine Ingersoll Rand business units globally. It sits at the intersection of the company's most acute current risk exposure: tariff volatility, customs compliance complexity, cross-border lane disruption, and an uncontracted spend environment that has left meaningful value on the table.
This is not a role for someone looking to manage existing programs. This is a builder role - for a leader who wants to architect a global international logistics and warehousing model inside a complex industrial organization, deploy AI and digital tools from day one, and leave a visible mark on a $250M spend transformation.

What You Will Own
  • Full ownership of $100M+ in international freight spend - Contract warehousing, Ocean FCL/LCL, heavyweight air, forwarding, drayage, and customs brokerage across all nine Ingersoll Rand business units
  • Design and execution of a multi-year International Logistics category strategy aligned to the company's $250M freight transformation roadmap
  • Annual and strategic RFQs across all spend; driving spend under contract and eliminating uncontracted quoting environments
  • Customs brokerage strategy and compliance oversight across all trade lanes, including tariff intelligence, duty exposure modeling, and proactive communication to BU finance partners
  • External rate benchmarking to validate incumbent proposals and sharpen commercial strategy
  • Ownership of the International Logistics & Contract warehousing balanced scorecard - Service, Quality, Delivery, and Cost/Productivity - with proactive push of performance and market intelligence to BU leadership
  • Lead 3PL strategy and governance, including network design input, provider segmentation, contract negotiations, service reviews, and performance management across outsourced logistics partners
  • Own contract warehousing strategy and oversight, including footprint rationalization, storage and handling cost optimization, inventory-related service expectations, and alignment of warehouse partners to BU growth and service requirements
  • Cross-border lane disruption response, contingency planning, and M&A assimilation onto IR carrier and logistics standards
  • Enterprise KPI contribution - standing up OTD baselines, D&D metrics, and AI-assisted spend visibility for international modes
You will operate at the intersection of Procurement, Finance, Operations, and Business Unit leadership - influencing senior leaders across a complex, multi-BU portfolio and setting a new standard for what international logistics looks like at Ingersoll Rand.

Key Competencies
Commercial Acumen: Proven ability to structure and execute competitive RFQs, negotiate complex carrier and forwarder agreements, and drive spend under contract discipline in international freight categories.
3PL & Warehousing Leadership: Experience managing 3PL and contract warehousing partners, including provider selection, contract governance, performance management, service accountability, and alignment of outsourced operations to business growth and customer requirements.
Warehouse Systems Leadership: Experience leading WMS implementation and ongoing warehouse systems management, including labor management systems (LMS), process standardization, performance visibility, and integration of warehouse technology to improve productivity, inventory accuracy, and service execution.
Digital & AI Fluency: Comfortable deploying analytics tools, rate benchmarking platforms (Xeneta, Freightos, or equivalents), and AI-assisted workflows as standard operating practice - not future aspirations.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate a complex, multi-BU international freight portfolio into a coherent, prioritized category strategy - and execute against it with discipline.
Change Leadership: Experience operating in complex, matrixed organizations - influencing stakeholders across business units, finance, operations, and procurement without direct authority.
Analytical Problem-Solving: Comfort with spend data, scenario modeling, rate benchmarking analysis, and risk-based decision making.

Who You Are
  • 8+ years in international logistics, global freight,3PL management or trade and customs - in complex industrial, manufacturing, or multi-business-unit environments
  • Deep experience across ocean, air freight, forwarding, and customs brokerage
  • Proven builder - category strategies, commercial frameworks, or operating models developed from scratch, not inherited
  • Commercially fearless - structured, data-driven, and relentless in pursuit of value
  • Digitally fluent - uses analytics, benchmarking platforms, and AI tools to outperform peers, not as a future goal but as current practice
  • Executive presence - ability to influence engineers, operators, and finance leaders across nine business units
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by building in environments where the playbook doesn't yet exist
  • Collaborative operator who thrives in a cross-BU model and understands that enterprise-wide credibility is earned through execution
Experience in the following is strongly preferred: WMS implementation and warehouse systems management, procurement partnership and sourcing execution, 3PL and contract warehousing governance, and international freight RFQ execution.

The Opportunity
The Global Logistics function is at an inflection point. The spend is material. The risk is real. And the opportunity - to build something from scratch, deploy AI from day one, and establish best-in-class international logistics inside a $7.7B industrial company - is significant.
