Position SummaryReporting to the Director of Quality in Victoria BC, the Internal Auditor is a critical representative of De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC) who ensures process conformity and regulatory compliance based out of Calgary and will oversee and execute the annual internal audit plan for Manufacturing sites in Calgary.
Key Responsibilities- Execution of the internal Audit Plan for Manufacturing in accordance with the approved procedure.
- Issuing Corrective actions and Opportunities for improvements as a result of the audits
- Oversee, follow up, and drive the corrective action audit findings to closure utilizing Key metrics.
- Documents and distributes the audit report and records of all audit information.
- Create and maintain audit checklists as applicable.
- Maintain audit metrics and systematically evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the QA audit system to ensure compliance with CAR 561 and other applicable standards.
- Assist with the Training of the Corrective action system to the assigned individuals, as well as being comfortable in communicating with employees and senior management on the importance of our internal audit system and results
- Support external audits as required.
QualificationsEducation
- Background knowledge in Aircrafts, Quality Assurance and Auditing or a related technical discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Quality, or a related field.
- Experience working within AS9100, ISO9001, or equivalent quality management systems.
- Experience conducting internal, or external audits. (AS9100 Lead Auditor preferred)
- Aerospace manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of quality systems, auditing, and corrective action processes.
- Experience with root cause analysis methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, and DMAIC.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and quality management systems.
The role requires exceptional technical knowledge, independent judgment and ethical conduct. The Internal auditor must have the capability and authority to examine, verify and approve documentation and processes related to the QA system to ensure compliance with.
Certifications
- AS9100 Lead auditor or ISO9001 lead auditor
- ASQ Certified Quality Auditor designation (CQA) (an asset)
Working Conditions- Maintain strict adherence to De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC) Health & Safety Policies.
- Work in various environmental conditions, including temperature extremes, confined spaces, heights, and around chemicals.
- Must be able to climb, stand, kneel, lift (up to 50 pounds), push, pull, bend, reach, carry, walk, crawl, balance, and use stairs.
- Must be able to work shift rotations including weekends and/or night shifts, on-call or overtime as occasionally required.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for workplace safety.
- Ensure the ability to maintain a positive fit test when mask use is necessary.
