Role description:

Our Structural Team is seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join the growing team in Calgary Office, Alberta. The successful individual will develop and manage projects for the construction of new or modification to existing transportation, water & wastewater, commercial, industrial, power, and institutional buildings & structures, ensuring conformance with building codes. Perform responsible, professional level foundation & structural analysis, building and structural inspections. The scope of projects handled by our department ranges from minor renovations to major projects. Structural Engineer will be working with engineers and BIM modelers in Calgary head office and other Arcadis's offices around the globe. This job will involve coordination with other disciplines in house and offices around the world.

Role accountabilities:
  • Lead the analysis & design of structures and the preparation of drawings and specifications
  • Coordination with other design disciplines (Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, etc...)
  • Attend meetings and prepare presentations when required
  • Prepare bid documentation for project pursuits
  • Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design intent and codes
  • Reviewing & responding to submittals (RFI's, Shop Drawings, etc...) during CA phase of projects
  • Provide direction to, and work with, Engineering & CAD staff
  • Provide peer reviews of other engineer's work
  • Mentorship to Jr. Engineers
  • Perform QA/QC activities

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Master's degree in Structural Engineering is an asset
  • Minimum 6 years relevant experience in structural design
  • Registered P.Eng in Alberta.
  • Registration in other provinces is an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Canadian design standards and codes
  • Knowledge of US codes and standards is an asset
  • Ability to lead teams consisting of multiple engineers and CAD staff
  • Proficiency and understanding of structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000 is expected
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and software such as Bluebeam is expected
  • Knowledge of 3D BIM is an asset such as REVIT & Navisworks
  • Strong project management and coordination skills with a strong ability to lead the structural design of projects. You will work in a multi-disciplined team environment and will be expected to demonstrate a collaborative attitude in working with members of the team
  • Ability to confidently relate with all levels of staff and clientele - Internal and External
  • Excellent work ethic and desire to succeed
  • Effective communication in the English language (verbal and written)

The salary range for this position is Intermediate structural salary range: 91k to 95k. The base salary represents Arcadis' hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
