Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our Division team, based out of Location The Position Title will be responsible for developing structural steel, concrete foundation and piling calculations, with minimal supervision using NBCC, industry and corporate standards and design guides.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Analyze new and existing structures using STAAD.Pro, S-Frame and Advance Design.
  • Develop structural steel calculations for buildings, pipe racks and equipment structures.
  • Develop foundations and piling calculations for buildings, pipe racks and equipment structures.
  • Utilize NBCC, local codes, company and industry design guides/standards to develop structural calculations.
  • Provide technical and administrative supervision to Junior Engineers
  • Make basic decisions/planning concerning day-to-day engineering calculation and analysis.
  • Receive technical and administrative supervision from an engineering supervisor.
  • Receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
  • Solicit assistance on unusual problems and review of solving method and judgment.
  • Maintain close contact within the discipline.
  • Interface with other disciplines to ensure design consistency.
  • May interface with field personnel or vendor representatives to gather or give information as specifically directed.
  • Interface with Civil Engineers and Designers to ensure continuity of civil design with building, equipment and structure foundations.
  • Ensure design compliance with approved design standards and all industry codes and standards.
  • Participate in and foster a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus from an accredited university.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in structural engineering
  • Certifications: Professional membership with APEGA or another recognized engineering association in Canada.
  • Proficient in structural analysis software, including STAAD.Pro, S-Frame, Advance Design, and Dyna.
  • Strong knowledge of NBCC and relevant industry/regulatory codes and standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient with general computer operations and Microsoft Office Suite.
