Position Purpose
Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Marketing, the incumbent will contribute to the development and growth of the sector by conceptualizing and executing liaison and recruitment activities which project a positive image of the sector in order to maximize outreach and attract a high caliber of students. Organize and lead promotional and recruitment events and campaigns, generate web content and develop communication plans to project a positive image, promote the brand and increase the visibility of the sector. Act as resource person to employees of the sector on inquires related to communications to ensure compliance with established policies and standards.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Liaison Activities: Plan and coordinate visits with future students, parents, and guidance counsellors to promote programs, achievements, and ongoing activities of the faculty and/or the university. Act as a resource person for inquiries pertaining to program requirements and university services with the objective of increasing the visibility and appeal of the program for future students.

  • Events Management: Conceptualize and execute events for student recruitment and other special events in order to project a positive image of the faculty and/or the university. To this end, form and chair event planning committees, identify elements and timelines, monitor and communicate progress. Develop event budgets and ensure that all activities take place within budget limitations. 

  • Promotion: Promote events to target audiences to maximize outreach and participation. To this end, conceptualize and develop promotional material, maintain strong relationships with key contacts at secondary schools and other postsecondary institutions and at government agencies, develop a student ambassador program and facilitate its activities.

  • Quality assurance: Develop performance indicators and monitor performance by executing consultations and surveys in order to maximize the effectiveness of liaison and recruitment activities of the sector. Analyze results and make improvements to optimize the use of recruitment and advertising tools.

  • Communications: Develop and execute an annual communications plan that supports the sector’s communications needs for various internal and external target audiences, contributing to the strategic plan and the brand of the sector. To this end, write content for annual reports, news bulletins, brochures, speeches, web, social media and press releases and coordinate translation.

  • Marketing: Develop and implement marketing strategies for the sector contributing to the corporate marketing and communications plan. To this end, collaborate with graphic designers and photography and printing resources in the production of marketing material to promote the sector to future students while ensuring compliance with graphic standards.

What you will bring:

  • Knowledge of communications principles normally acquired through a postsecondary degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in a similar role.

  • Experience in event planning and organization.

  • Experience managing projects.

  • Strong public relations, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of marketing and communications strategies and experience in developing and executing plans.

  • Ability to work on a flexible schedule to meet operational requirements.

  • Knowledge of web accessibility guidelines and experience in their application. 

  • Advanced knowledge of computer systems and software including graphic design and web applications, spreadsheets, databases, content management systems and e-mail campaign management software.

  • Experience giving presentations to large groups in both official languages.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to staff kiosks or other logistics duties, requiring standing for several hours.

  • Ability to support event setup by occasionally transporting and moving equipment, podiums, tables, and chairs.

  • Ability and availability to occasionally travel outside of the city to facilitate recruitment activities, and to work outside of normal office hours.

  • Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written).
