Your Opportunity

Stantec has opportunities for intermediate-level practitioners to help lead our environmental assessment and permitting projects. Working with our biological, physical sciences, human environment, and engineering teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and contributing to environmental assessments and permitting activities for a variety of projects. These projects will be in the ports and marine, transportation and infrastructure, oil and gas, mining, or power sectors. This position is focused on providing technical support for environmental planning studies, management plans, and regulatory permit applications. The successful candidate will also have an opportunity for client-facing roles, as well as leading and managing tasks.

This role is located in Terrace, British Columbia.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Managing completion of multidisciplinary environmental deliverables included but not limited to environmental constraints analysis, effects assessment sections, permit applications, environmental management plans and permit compliance documents
• Authoring regulatory and technical sections of applications as well as technical reports • Contributing to proposals (strategy, schedule and budget development and management) and client engagement activities (conferences, workshops, and other networking opportunities)
• Providing technical direction and mentoring to staff and receiving technical direction from senior reviewers/ practitioners
• Building collaborative relationships with other Stantec staff, including Stantec's national Assessment and Permitting team
• Providing clients and project teams with advice on regulatory and technical issues • Supporting engagement activities with regulators, Indigenous groups, communities, and stakeholders as part of the project design, environmental assessment and permitting process
• Supporting the local Stantec office and other offices, as needed, with executing field programs and writing technical deliverables
• Implementing Stantec's quality assurance and quality control procedures on all project deliverables
• Promoting a strong health and safety culture and actively participating in Stantec's Health, Safety, Security and Environment Program

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Strong interpersonal and social skills and ability to interact across a broad range of audiences and technical backgrounds including internal and external clients and regulatory agencies
• Knowledgeable of the federal and provincial environmental assessment process and experience working on environmental assessments
• Knowledgeable of and experienced with federal and/or provincial permitting requirements
• Practical knowledge of environmental mitigation and best management practices
• Demonstrated technical writing skills and strong verbal communication skills
• Ability to work with multiple teams and on multiple deadlines
• Keen interest in building effective networks, interacting with clients, and fostering long-term relationships that contribute to our business
• Committed to providing quality deliverables in a timely manner
• Project management and subcontractor management experience is an asset

Education and Experience

Bachelor or graduate degree in an environmental, physical science, or engineering related discipline.

At least five (5) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience, focusing on environmental assessment and permitting.

Holds, or is eligible to obtain, a recognized professional designation in British Columbia, such as R.P.Bio., P.Eng., P.Geo., or P.Ag, preferred.

Possess a valid Driver's License.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time, as well as working in the field. Fieldwork may include remote work, long drives, 2+ week shifts away from home, exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC & Various locations in Ontario-$83,700.00 - $121,400.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
