Full Job Description
The Opportunity

This position is based at our Ottawa office within the Point of Care Division. We're empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including Chemistry, Electrolytes, Hematology, Blood Gases, Coagulation, Endocrinology, Cardiac Markers, Neurology, and Informatics. As a member of Component Manufacturing Engineering, you will contribute to the team's success by supporting high volume manufacturing operations, to ensure optimal equipment performance and production yields, and implementation of continuous improvement projects.

What You'll Do
  • Identification, development, and implementation of process improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee material qualification activities to ensure continuity of material supply.
  • Investigations into product and process problems, perform root cause analysis, implement changes, and develop documentation and reactions schemes.
  • Investigations into non-conformances (NCRs) and documentation of findings and Corrective Actions in Quality Reports (QRs).
  • Supporting manufacturing processes and equipment. There will be a mixture of process sustaining and project work, along with supporting the quality system
  • Safeguard the environment and facilitate a healthy workplace culture
  • Other miscellaneous duties may be required


Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate university Degree (4-year program), or equivalent experience (Engineering, or equivalent)
  • Two to three years related work in a manufacturing environment would be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with any of the following areas would be an asset: automated assembly processes, product packaging, injection molded components, experimental design and statistical process control, ISO/FDA regulations, risk management/FMEA methods, root cause analysis (6M's/ 5 Why's), Solidworks and statistical software packages such as Minitab and SAS JMP.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members, and work independently;
  • Willingness to work in labs, manufacturing areas, and office environments;
  • Propensity for continuous learning and experimentation.
  • Effective at dealing with a variety of people and understanding/communicating their requirements.
  • Self-directed, proactive and not easily discouraged.


The annual base salary for this position ranges from $62,250.00 to $100,100.00 CAD. The salary range provided applies to Canada only and does not apply to any other locations outside of Canada.
