The Intermediate Automation Engineer or Technologist will be part of a team that provides automation solutions to our industrial-basedclients in a manner that is client-driven and responsive. The successfulcandidate will undertake control system design and programming for our clients ina challenging and dynamic environment, often with tight deadlines. The workwill be determined according to client parameters, needs and expectations.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Automation Engineer orTechnologist will perform a variation of the following duties, depending onoperational needs, customer needs, and project requirements: Design control systems for industrialapplications
- Design control system changes toexisting systems as needed
- Write technical documentation tosupport design activities and document work plans and work performed
- Design software systems forindustrial applications
• Design software system changes toexisting systems as needed - Document software designs on asuitable platform
- Create automation programming forPLC, HMI, Historian, VFD, PC, and other automation systems that may be required
- Create code for database solutionsand other information technology platforms
- Perform FAT testing in the office orat the client site to a documented test plan
- Perform commissioning services at theclient site as needed as per the commissioning schedule which will require workto be completed after hours, on weekends, and on statutory holidays from timeto time
- Communicate effectively with theclient about project progress in a manner that is consistent with the projectgoals and QCA's best interest
- Travel to client sites in othercities to perform work as required
- Manage time allocations for tasksefficiently, meet deadlines for tasks as needed, and give feedback to projectmanagers
- Provide time estimates to managementfor work that will be performed
- Enter work hours and comments intothe timesheet program every week, on time, as per management deadlines
Qualifications- Degree in Electrical, Computer, orMechatronics Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution, orDiploma in Automation or equivalent from a Technical Institute.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant workexperience.
- Membership with EGBC as a P.Eng. ispreferred.
