Project Overview:

Bechtel has been appointed as the Delivery Partner, supporting our customer Metrolinx as part of an integrated team, to help deliver the signature Ontario Line Subway (OLS) Project, a transformational transit project for the Greater Toronto Area. The multi-billion dollar project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment. The Interface Planner will be responsible for reviewing the Ontario Line Program of schedules identifying areas of the schedule that have significant contractor/third party interfaces and therefore risk areas. Working with experienced construction and testing personnel, the interface planner will present the program leadership team with the optimal program options to protect against schedule erosion.

Job Summary:

The Interface Planner is responsible for integrating interface management activities into the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and ensuring that critical interface deliverables, dependencies, and milestones are accurately planned, monitored, and reported across multiple contracts, stakeholders, and delivery teams.

The role serves as the key link between Planning, Interface Management, Engineering, Construction, Systems, and Handover teams to ensure that interface-related activities are identified early, properly sequenced, and effectively managed to support the successful delivery of a major transit infrastructure program.

The Interface Planner will work closely with Integration Manager to monitor interface commitments, identify schedule risks, facilitate resolution of cross-boundary issues, and support timely information exchange between stakeholders.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and update interface schedule within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
  • Ensure alignment between contractor schedules and program-level interface requirements.
  • Support baseline development, schedule updates, re-baselining exercises, and schedule recovery planning.
  • Collaborate with Integration Manager and delivery teams to identify interface requirements and key integration milestones.
  • Track interface deliverables, action items, and commitments across multiple contracts and stakeholders.
  • Monitor interface-related risks and opportunities and support mitigation planning.
  • Facilitate communication between work packages to ensure timely resolution of interface issues.
  • Develop and maintain interface performance dashboards and KPI reports.
  • Monitor critical interface paths and provide early warning of potential schedule impacts.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports summarizing interface performance and key schedule concerns.
  • Support executive and management reporting on interface status and integration readiness.
  • Assist in developing planning standards, schedule coding structures, and reporting frameworks related to interface management.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, and 13-13 plus years of experience. In Lieu of degree 14-17 years relevant project controls experience with an emphasis on project planning in the Engineering and Construction industry.
  • Primavera P6 experience required.
  • Experience with multi-contract environments and complex stakeholder interfaces.
  • Previous experience on rail, transit, transportation, or major infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
  • Experience integrating engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning activities within a master schedule.
  • Experience representing the client and reviewing / integrating contractor schedules required.
  • Expert analytical and computer skills required.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis.

  • Skilled in oral and written communication, with a demonstrated ability to present planning and scheduling information to management and clients.
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems.
  • Knowledgeable about current industry developments.
