The ICU Director is a registered professional nurse who has 24 responsibility for a designated unit. This responsibility includes the overall planning, organizing and implementing of clinical, financial, and administrative activities and directly coordinating, teaching, and controlling their functions, including scheduling and staffing. He/She demonstrates clinical competence, excellent interpersonal skills and serves as a role model. Assists the Chief Nursing Officer in setting standards for his/her unit, in the development of a unit, Quality Assurance programs, implements a system to evaluate the quality of care delivered, participates in developing budget, policies and procedures and provides orientation and education for his/her staff. The ICU Director is responsible for recruitment and retention including interviewing, recommending appointment of staff, terminating, counseling, and conducting performance appraisals. The ICU Director's performance appraisal is based on the following nine criteria. Job duties are defined after each criteria and neither job criteria or duties are all inclusive or exclusive. He/she know and implements the philosophy, purpose, policies and standards of the hospital and the Nursing Service Department. Ensures that quality, patient focused care is provided for the Intermediate Care Unit/Intensive Care Unit.
Education/Experience:- Current RN License Bachelors' Degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years nurse experience, 2 years in specialized area, ICU preferred
- Previous management experience preferred
