This position serves as an Intelligence Research Specialist, Transnational Threats and Strategic Operations located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Joint Task Force Vulcan (JTFV). In line with President Trump's directive to revise national security and counternarcotics strategies, the focus is on the total elimination of Cartels and Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) in the United States.
If selected for this position, typical work assignments will include:
- Serves as a Senior Intelligence Analyst, trusted advisor, and Subject Matter Expert (SME), responsible for leading the development, execution, and oversight of complex intelligence research and analysis initiatives.
- Plans and leads highly specialized, technically complex programs of significant scope and national importance, requiring expert judgment, strategic oversight, and a high degree of responsibility.
- Conducts in-depth research using classified databases and open-source intelligence (OSINT) to generate actionable insights in direct support of law enforcement investigations.
- Analyzes intelligence and law enforcement reporting related to organized crime; oversees financial analysis of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) data to identify money laundering patterns, methodologies, and illicit financial networks.
- Uses subject matter expertise to identify emerging threats, assess the capabilities and intent of criminal organizations, and support investigative efforts through strategic intelligence analysis.
- Collaborates with senior leaders from national and international agencies, law enforcement, and the intelligence community to ensure strategic alignment and the successful achievement of operational objectives.
- Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and guidelines governing the dissemination of criminal intelligence, and monitors program performance to ensure compliance and support reporting requirements.
- Delivers strategic intelligence guidance to leadership and senior officials, ensuring alignment with U.S. intelligence laws, policies, and ethical standards.

QualificationsTo qualify at the GS-15 level, candidates must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level. Examples of specialized experience include duties such as supporting intelligence operations through comprehensive research using classified databases and open-source information to aid law enforcement investigations; assisting in the analysis and interpretation of intelligence related to criminal activities by identifying trends and operational tactics; monitoring the effectiveness of intelligence policies to ensure program compliance; and collaborating with law enforcement and intelligence partners to facilitate information sharing and support investigative efforts.
