The Role We're looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Intelligence Platform team, reporting to the AVP - Product Management. In this role, you will turn ideas into running software fast. On a three-person team, you are the person who can take a hypothesis on Monday and have a working, demo-able prototype by the end of the week, front to back. You will build the interfaces the team shows to customers, the services behind them, and the integrations that connect prototypes to the Intelligence Platform's data and features/functions.
You'll thrive in this role if you value speed and judgment more than polish and are comfortable building the right throwaway thing quickly.
What you'll Do - Build end-to-end prototypes: customer-facing UIs, APIs and services behind them, and the glue connecting them to Intelligence Platform primitives.
- Integrate prototypes with the platform's data layer (Iceberg, Redshift, Databricks endpoints)
- Build and wire up agents and MCP-based tools as the team explores AI-driven products.
- Work exclusively through agentic coding tools, getting far more leverage out of them than a typical engineer does.
- Document architecture, decisions, and how each prototype works, so context is never trapped in one person's head.
- Help demo to customers and translate their reactions directly back into the next iteration.
- Make pragmatic calls on what to throw away and what to invest in.
What you'll Bring - Strong full-stack ability: you are productive across frontend, backend, and the integration work between, and you can stand up a working application on your own.
- A generalist knowledge of Nasdaq's business lines, strategy, and customers paired with deep expertise in a vertical of the Fintech division
- Real fluency with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, or equivalent) and a demonstrated ability to ship meaningfully faster with them.
- Comfort with AWS infrastructure and with calling and composing APIs and services.
- A bias toward shipping: you would rather have something running and learn from it than design it perfectly on paper.
- The temperament for ambiguity and frequent change of direction.
- Experience with MCP, agent frameworks, or orchestration tools
- Familiarity with data tooling (dbt, Iceberg, Databricks, Redshift, QuickSight or comparable BI).
Nice to Have - A Masters' Degree or double degree qualified in a discipline related to Computer Science and our industry or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years' work experience.
- Continues to develop computer engineering qualifications relevant to the industry challenges.
This position will be located in
Denver, Boston, Philadelphia, or New York City, and offers a
hybrid work environment (minimum three days per week in-office), subject to change.
