Intellectual Property Attorney, Lead
The Opportunity:

As a Lead on the Legal Department's Intellectual Property Team, this legal counsel position will partner with the business to facilitate the development and sale of products and solutions to Federal Government and Commercial Customers. Working in close collaboration with others in the Intellectual Property Team and other Legal Department team members, this role will counsel businesses on intellectual property matters, leverage best practices to mitigate risk, ensure a consistent approach to development and sales across supported market groups, and operationalize a broad range of risk mitigation techniques to assist broader business goals. This role will assist in providing subject matter expertise on intellectual property protection, on product compliance regulatory regimes in the government and commercial sectors, and coordinate with other subject matter experts in the Legal Department and across the company to position the business for compliance with anticipated ethical and regulatory regimes. The Counsel will leverage expertise in federal government contracts counseling, data rights, contract negotiations, and software or solutions sales to anticipate risk and protect the company's strategic investments. You Have:
  • 5+ years of experience in legal counseling on intellectual property, product and solution sales, or primarily to federal government clients, including drafting and negotiating intellectual property licenses and developing data rights protection best practices
  • Experience with drafting and advising on intellectual property in commercial contracts
  • Experience in working with or managing patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and open-source software
  • Experience with advising on and being conversant with emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data security, incident response, and highly technical concepts and associated regulatory and contractual requirements
  • Experience with government contracts law, including FAR, DFARS, negotiating other transaction agreements, federal procurement statutes, and regulations in a law firm or corporate legal department
  • Experience with negotiating commercial intellectual property issues relevant to product development and delivery agreements
  • Ability to translate highly technical concepts into plain language
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and manage the workload and simultaneous tasks, and meet deadlines in a changing, fast-paced environment
  • J.D. degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $128,700.00 to $292,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
