The Insurance Specialist works closely with project teams, subcontractors, insurance brokers, and company leadership to resolve coverage deficiencies and reduce project risk. SALARY RANGE: $85,000 - $100,000 annually

BENEFITS:

  • Group medical, vision, and dental insurance, including a choice of two benefit plans (PPO plan and High Deductible/Health Savings Account plan with company contribution to HSA).

  • Sick leave accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, with an annual carryover of 80 hours.
  • 9 paid holidays each year.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contract and Insurance Requirements

  • Review owner contracts, master agreements, and related documents to identify project-specific insurance requirements.
  • Compare owner requirements with the company's standard subcontractor insurance requirements and recommend appropriate project-specific adjustments.
  • Review contract documents to identify CCIP/OCIP enrollment requirements, insurance credits, coverage obligations, and exclusions.
  • Identify insurance-related risks, exceptions, and requirements that may affect project execution.
  • Determine whether subcontractor insurance deficiencies also create noncompliance with the applicable owner contract

Subcontractor Insurance Compliance:

  • Establish new projects in myCOI and maintain accurate project and subcontractor insurance information.
  • Assign the appropriate insurance requirement sets to subcontracts in myCOI.
  • Identify noncompliant or incomplete documentation and coordinate corrections with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and insurance brokers.
  • Monitor subcontract start dates and proactively address deficiencies to help prevent subcontractors from beginning work without required insurance.
  • Monitor accounting hold reports and assist with resolving payment holds caused by insurance noncompliance
  • Track project completion dates and close projects in myCOI when appropriate.
  • Coordinate contractor and subcontractor enrollment in Contractor-Controlled and Owner-Controlled Insurance Programs.
  • Monitor CCIP/OCIP compliance and coordinate the correction of enrollment or documentation deficiencies with project teams, subcontractors, brokers, and program administrators.
  • Assist with subcontractor closeout, final payroll reporting, and CCIP/OCIP program audits

Company Insurance Certificates

  • Request company certificates of insurance and endorsements from the company's insurance broker.
  • Review company certificates and endorsements for accuracy and compliance before distribution.
  • Coordinate the distribution of renewal certificates and updated insurance documents to project teams and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Five to ten years of relevant experience in construction insurance, subcontractor risk management, certificate-of-insurance compliance, contract administration, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of insurance fundamentals, products, coverage forms, exclusions, and industry terminology
  • Knowledge of construction-specific insurance programs and coverages, including SDI, CCIPs, and OCIPs.
  • Experience reviewing subcontracts, certificates of insurance, and insurance endorsements.
  • Understanding of construction trades, scopes of work, and associated risk exposures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain compliance issues clearly and professionally
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities
  • Strong internal client-service orientation and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
