Full Job Description
The Insurance Accounting Supervisor supports the delivery of financial consulting services to US-based insurance clients, including carriers, reinsurers, MGAs/MGUs, brokers, and insurance service organizations. This role is responsible for supervising day-to-day client delivery, reviewing accounting workpapers and analyses, supporting monthly and quarterly close activities, and helping clients address complex insurance accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and operational finance needs. The Supervisor will work closely with managers and senior leaders to coordinate engagements, coach team members, maintain quality, and support scalable delivery of the insurance accounting solution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise day-to-day delivery of insurance accounting and financial consulting engagements, including coordinating workplans, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and escalating issues timely.
  • Review accounting workpapers, reconciliations, journal entries, account analyses, schedules, and client-ready deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with engagement objectives.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for insurance clients, including premium, commission, claims, loss reserve, reinsurance, cash, investments, intercompany, and statutory reporting-related processes.
  • Assist clients with GAAP and statutory accounting matters, financial reporting support, operational accounting processes, account reconciliations, data validation, and finance transformation initiatives.
  • Coordinate with client accounting, finance, actuarial, operations, claims, underwriting, regulatory reporting, and external audit teams to gather information, resolve reconciling items, and drive timely completion of deliverables.
  • Identify accounting process gaps, control deficiencies, reporting inefficiencies, and data quality issues; recommend practical improvements and help implement sustainable solutions.
  • Coach, mentor, and review the work of associates and senior associates, providing real-time feedback, technical guidance, and support for professional development.
  • Maintain engagement documentation, status trackers, issue logs, review notes, and client communications in accordance with firm methodology and quality expectations.
  • Support engagement budgeting, resource planning, utilization tracking, and status reporting to managers and senior leaders.
  • Contribute to the growth of the insurance accounting solution by helping develop templates, playbooks, training materials, standard procedures, and reusable delivery tools.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting, audit, advisory, consulting, or insurance finance experience.
  • Experience with insurance accounting processes such as premiums, commissions, claims, loss reserves, reinsurance, statutory reporting, reconciliations, close processes, or financial statement support.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to research, interpret, and apply accounting guidance to practical client situations.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analyses, workpapers, schedules, and client-facing deliverables.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain quality in a client service or project-based environment.
  • Strong supervisory, coaching, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and working proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, including client finance teams, auditors, actuaries, operations teams, and internal engagement leadership.


Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA license or progress toward CPA preferred.
  • Public accounting, consulting, or professional services experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting insurance carriers, reinsurers, MGAs/MGUs, brokers, or insurance service providers.
  • Familiarity with statutory accounting principles, NAIC reporting concepts, US GAAP insurance accounting, ASC 944, ASC 606, or reinsurance accounting.
  • Experience with financial close optimization, accounting operations support, process improvement, data cleanup, system implementation support, or finance transformation projects.
  • Experience with insurance or ERP systems such as Workday, Oracle, SAP, PeopleSoft, Guidewire, Duck Creek, Clearwater, BlackLine, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to support client relationship management by identifying issues, communicating status, anticipating needs, and helping develop practical solutions.

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $112,100 - $225,500

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
