OverviewInstrumentation Engineer Opportunity!
Performs assignments, which require application of engineering education, training or experience and special knowledge or judgment of the mathematical, physical, or engineering sciences under the close supervision of a Professional Engineer. Assignments are designed to further develop the incumbent’s job knowledge and abilities. Applies Engineering principles in discipline of competency. Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities. Performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard design engineering techniques for a small project or selected segments of a larger project. Keeps supervisor informed of progress.
Responsibilities
Prepares basic to advanced specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
Prepares technical specifications for review and approval. Assists in the development of instrumentation design calculations and packages.
Visits vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements. Visits jobsites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.
Prepares inquiry and purchase requisitions. Prepares bid tabulations on simple purchases. Reviews vendor drawings.
Develops a focus on least cost, safe design. Supervises design personnel. Actively involved in maintaining the schedule and budget of assigned projects.
Meets company quality assurance requirements.
Supports field assignments as required.
Must be able to perform all the functions of the lower classifications.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may periodically be required to travel to client jobsites, usually involving heavy industrial (chemical) production facilities and access all areas of the facility. Therefore, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and the risk of electric shock. The noise level in workplace can be loud to moderate depending on assignment. Respirator fit testing may be required.
Qualifications
5-10 years of experience related to instrumentation and control systems.
Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred, Professional Engineering license is preferred.
Education Requirements
BS in Engineering (or higher) from ABET accredited Institution
