Your Job Our INVISTA site in Victoria, TX is currently seeking an Instrument & Electrical Engineer. As an Instrument & Electrical Reliability Engineer, you will improve the reliability and performance of instrumentation, control systems, and electrical assets within our manufacturing operations. This role offers the opportunity to create value through technical problem-solving, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
What You Will Do - Provide technical leadership and support for the site's instrumentation, mechanical integrity, and reliability programs.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, turnaround, and project teams to improve reliability, troubleshoot equipment issues, and develop long-term asset strategies.
- Apply engineering expertise across instrumentation and control systems including DCS, PLCs, analyzers, transducers, valves, wireless technologies, and field instrumentation.
- Drive modernization initiatives by upgrading legacy instrumentation systems and implementing smart instrumentation, monitoring, and diagnostic technologies.
- Develop and maintain strategies for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Functional Safety, Process Safety Management (PSM), environmental, and regulatory instrumentation systems.
- Support capital projects through development of specifications, drawing reviews, vendor engagement, safety reviews, reliability improvements, and commissioning activities.
- Lead root cause analysis and reliability improvement efforts to identify and eliminate recurring instrument failures and bad actor equipment.
- Develop technical documentation, management of change (MOC) deliverables, calibration requirements, alarm settings, and interlock testing procedures.
- Trend equipment performance and reliability metrics to drive data-informed decisions and continuous improvement across the site.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) - Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Related Discipline
- Working knowledge of National Electrical Code, ISA, OSHA, PIP, NFPA, API, IEEE, IEC 61511 and other applicable standards.
- Three (3) or more years of experience supporting instrumentation, electrical equipment, reliability, maintenance, or mechanical integrity programs in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Experience leading root cause analyses, troubleshooting efforts, and reliability improvement projects for instrumentation and electrical systems.
What Will Put You Ahead - Eight (8) or more years of relevant industrial reliability or maintenance experience
- Experience troubleshooting critical instrumentation and control systems
- Experience interpreting and applying engineering design standards and PSM requirements
- Experience applying statistical tools to identify "Bad Actor" equipment (i.e.: Reliability Modeling, Root Cause Analysis, RCA)
- Functional Safety Certification or ability to obtain certification within one year
