Inspection Services Supervisor

Overview:

The Inspection Services Supervisor in Integrity Quality Assurance (IQA) leads 14 Inspection Technicians responsible for construction inspection of pipeline projects. This role partners with Logistics and Storage Engineering (LSE) project leaders to assign MPL Inspection Technicians to oversee projects and directs, develops, and monitors MPL Inspection Technician performance. Additionally, the Inspection Services Supervisor leads the MPL Construction Inspection process and serves as MPL's subject matter expert (SME) for in-ditch non-destructive examination (NDE). This role supports IQA's mission of providing quality solutions, exceptional collaboration, and technical guidance.

Responsibilities:
  • Process owner for the MPL Construction Inspection process, including project inspection expectations, requirements, standards, and continuous improvement through the Operational Excellence Management System and plan-do-check-adjust cycle.
  • Directs, develops, and monitors a remote team of 14 Inspection Technicians across all four MPL Operating Regions. Monitors Inspection Technician performance through site visits, project leader feedback, audits, Procore data, project scorecards, and incident reports to identify trends, provide feedback, and drive improvement.
  • Assigns Inspection Technicians to pipeline projects based on skill level and project complexity, and collaborates with LSE to deploy resources efficiently.
  • Manages budget for Inspection Services, including technician training, equipment, and tools.
  • Manages staffing, training, professional development, and certification processes for Inspection Technicians.
  • Process owner for the non-destructive examination (NDE) process for pipeline construction and pipeline anomaly evaluation and continuous improvement through the Operational Excellence Management System and plan-do-check-adjust cycle.
  • Represents the company in construction inspection and pipeline industry organizations, participates in research and technical conferences and applies industry knowledge and emerging technologies to improve company processes.
  • Oversees specialized inspection programs and compliance obligations as assigned (ex: Southern California Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) tank seal inspection requirements).
  • Supports the MPL Repair Team during emergency response situations.
