Job Title Inspection Advisor III Compensation $105/hr (1099) $125/day Truck Allowance (days worked) Location Carlsbad, NM Schedule 5/2, 50 hours per week Target Start Date ASAP Scope Quality Lead - New Mexico Area Tasks and Responsibilities
Promote safety within area of specialty.
Coordinate and lead a team of 3rd party contractor Quality Assurance inspectors to ensure construction and fabrication is conducted in accordance with relevant specifications.
Control and manage associated costs for Quality Assurance activities.
Provide a senior level of expertise in quality management, inspection and testing for disciplines such as welding, coating, civil works, piping, pressure vessel and tank fabrication, equipment installations and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
Advise supervisor on all quality matters associated with engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction activities.
Assist, mentor and train contractors and suppliers with development and improvements to quality control and inspection activities.
Manage conflict within the QA Team in New Mexico to preserve the reputation of the QA team as being helpful and contributing rather than policing.
Develop and maintain a trusting working relationship with New Mexico supervisors and managers.
Roll out quality-related initiatives and improvements in the New Mexico area across engineering, procurement and construction.
Assist Quality Supervision with internal development and improvement of Quality Assurance processes and procedures across Engineering, Procurement and Construction.
Manage quality interfaces and coordination between Suppliers, Contractors, Quality Assurance, Reliability Team and other Project Team disciplines including Engineering and Construction.
Ensure Contractor and Supplier quality documents are reviewed for accuracy and adequacy.
Periodically participate in Mechanical Completion walkdowns, PSSR walkdowns, Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), final inspection release activities, review supplier Quality Control documents and support closure of punch list items.
Keep Quality Supervision informed of significant quality issues and updated on quality issue status.
Ensure internal quality assurance and inspection records, reports and data are maintained and delivered as required.
Provide early warning of potential quality problems and promote solutions to mitigate and prevent reoccurrence.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 15 years of Quality and/or Inspection experience with a major oil & gas producer or EPC.
Ability to deal with high-stress situations with calm and measured professionalism.
Strong knowledge of ASME, NACE, API, AWS, ACI and other industry codes related to fabrication and construction.
Willingness and ability to travel to field and/or shop locations to troubleshoot quality issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Current or previous ASQ Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) certification, or commitment to obtain certification within 12 months.
Associate's degree or higher in Engineering or Science.
Current or previous ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification.
