The PositionIncumbent works under the direction of the Community Mental Health Center Administrator or designee, providing supervision to inpatient Clinical Care Coordinators (CCC) ensuring adherence to department policies and procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines.
Essential Functions - Supervise assigned staff (e.g., hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, monitoring, coaching, delegating, evaluating, completing personnel actions).
- Assist in responding to statutory and procedural inquiries.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.
- Comply with Civil Service Rules, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.
- Conduct psychosocial assessments, determine risk level, and coordinate inpatient psychiatric admissions.
- Develop treatment plans in collaboration with an interdisciplinary treatment team, performing psychosocial interventions, measuring intervention outcomes, and modifying treatment plans.
- Implement treatment modalities addressing cause and presenting complaint, coordinating family conferences, and serving as a liaison to family members.
- Develop therapeutic relationships with consumers and families utilizing counseling and therapy (e.g., individual, group, family), crisis intervention, and social rehabilitation.
- Plan, arrange, and assist consumers and/or family members in easing consumers' transition to the community; and refer consumers to appropriate community resources.
- Consult with staff regarding consumer needs and available support services.
- Recognize and welcome individuals with co-occurring disorders.
- Engage consumers in an empathetic and accepting manner.
- Prepare and maintain medical records, reports, data, and correspondence.
- Maintain knowledge of current healthcare, local and state community agencies, and internal policy changes.
- Encourage, facilitate and foster group identity, cooperation, pride, trust, professional commitment and teamwork.
- Perform therapy (e.g., group, individual), and Substance Use Disorder Assessments.
- Conduct utilization management activities complying with administrative goals.
- Prepare in-service education materials.
- Attend designated CMHC management and physician staff meetings and serve on CMHC committees.
- Maintain job knowledge and skills (e.g., research, meetings, webinars, seminars, conferences, continuing education).
- Safely operate a motor vehicle when required to travel on County business.
- Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned and directed.
Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements - Master's degree from an accredited university or college in Social Work required.*
- Two (2) years of experience in human or social services field required.*
- Six (6) months in a lead or supervisory capacity required.
- Certification as a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) in the State of Nebraska required.
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification upon hire and maintained throughout employment required.
- Completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training within six (6) months of hire required.
- Valid driver's license upon hire and maintained throughout employment required.
- Completion of a pre-employment criminal record check and conditional offer drug screen and physical assessment required.
- *Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted for requirements on a year-for-year basis.

- Work is generally performed in a locked psychiatric facility with mental health consumers. Noise level is usually moderate to loud. Work hours are typically assigned shifts; however, schedule may vary (e.g., weekends, holidays, extra shifts, emergency call-ins). Work involves potential exposure to biohazards and consumers who may be a danger to themselves and others. Work may be stressful when dealing with time constraints, multiple/changing priorities, limited resources, uncooperative/irate individuals, and crisis situations.
- Work requires physical activity, including extended periods of standing, walking, frequent sitting, reaching, bending, and occasional kneeling, climbing, stooping, crouching, and balancing. Work also requires the ability to participate in restraining mental health consumers during crisis situations and be able to independently lift 50 pounds, push 35 pounds, and pull 75 pounds of load over seven (7) feet.
- Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
