6 West - Neuroscience is a 30-bed adult acute care Neuroscience unit at UVA Health specializing in the treatment of patients with complex neurological conditions and diagnoses.

Position: Charge NurseThe Charge Nurse is an experienced nursing professional who demonstrates advanced clinical expertise, leadership capabilities, and strong interpersonal skills. This role supports both the clinical and operational needs of the inpatient unit while serving as a key resource for staff and patients in partnership with unit leadership.
Role Overview & Daily ResponsibilitiesThe Charge Nurse is responsible for facilitating and supporting the daily clinical and operational functions of the unit, including:
- Coordinating patient care delivery
- Providing leadership and support to nursing staff
- Collaborating with management on unit operations
- Ensuring high-quality patient outcomes and safety standards
- Supporting patient flow and staffing needs
- Serving as a clinical resource and mentor for team members
- Promoting effective communication among interdisciplinary team members

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or currently enrolled in an accredited nursing BSN/MSN program that will be completed within 5 years of hire.
Experience: RN Clinician 2 or higher who has been employed on the unit for 6 months or has had previous Charge Nurse experience from another unit/organization.
Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The pay range for this role is $46.08 - $62.15 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
