Full Job Description
Achieve the functional and dysfunctional design of innovative batteries to ensure the desired performance of the battery pack with a minimum safety with respect to an agreed planning with a cross functional synthesis with several skilled people.

  • Assess the disruptive technologies in cell electrochemistry for automotive application from technical performance points of view.


  • Lead relationships with different external partners (academics, startups, cell manufacturers, material providers).


  • Lead relationships and human resources coordination with different advanced and core teams with internal facilities.


  • Lead and extend partnerships and internal facilities upgrade plan.


  • Build and disseminate the mid and long terms roadmaps for cell electrochemistry technologies and designs.


ISSUES:

  • To master and disseminate the process of functional and dysfunctional design of batteries by seeking unprecedented performance in terms of horsepower and energy


  • To lead a project including several teams and skills to pass TRL and milestones according to the project planning.


  • To capitalize and disseminate methods and models implemented within the PDT communities


  • To summarize the balance sheets at the project level of performance and constraints of the addressed battery packs


  • To evaluate the thermo-electric performance of a battery pack (horsepower, energy addressable under thermal environment)


  • To evaluate battery pack cost


  • To evaluate battery pack performance in stationary environment


  • To evaluate battery pack Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)


POSITION ENVIRONMENT:

  • To exchange and validate its results with technical teams, expertise network and project stakeholders


  • To capitalize tools, models and methods with teams partners


RESULTS TO BE PRODUCED:

  • Technical assessments (TRL) and project Milestones


  • Synthesis of the functional and dysfunctional designs for the battery pack


  • Battery pack performance summary (horsepower and energy addressing)


  • Models and control laws to assess performances


  • TRL assessments including LCA assessments.


  • Cost analysis.


  • Sets of requirements for external cell makers.


  • Activity reports.


  • External partnerships and internal facilities upgrade plans.


ACTIVITIES TO ACHIEVE RESULTS:

  • Use battery pack system engineering to build functional and dysfunctional analyzes


  • Facilitate a working team for design synthesis


  • Cross functional synthesis with several skilled people


  • Manage partners relationships.


  • Gather and synthesize information from several sources.


  • Process the TRL gates (including LCA and cost) and deliver in time.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree Materials Engineering or Electrochemistry Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years working experience in the battery energy storage area.
  • Knowledge in battery pack design, electrochemistry, thermal management, battery cell, and electrical energy storage.
  • Excellent interpersonal skill to work in cross functional and multi-cultural team environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's in Materials Engineering or Electrochemistry
  • Proven experience in electrochemistry
  • Experience in current and/or advanced cell technologies.
  • Experience to provide technical guidance and direction during supplier technical reviews.
  • Proven experience in team leading or project management.
