The Sr. Processing Engineer is a key technical resource within our manufacturing facility, focusing on optimizing and advancing processes for injection, blow molding and reheat stretch operations. This role requires a strong understanding of PET, PP and HDPE processing and engineering principles to ensure efficient production, high-quality outputs, and innovative problem-solving. The Sr. Processing Engineer will collaborate with various departments to drive process improvements and support the facility's production objectives.
Key Responsibilities:- Process Development and Optimization:
- Develop, refine, and implement manufacturing processes for injection, blow molding and reheat stretch machines.
- Focus on enhancing efficiency, reducing cycle times, and minimizing waste while ensuring product quality.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
- Identify and resolve process-related issues promptly.
- Use root cause analysis and other problem-solving methodologies to address challenges and implement corrective actions.
- New Product Introduction:
- Support the introduction of new products by developing and validating processes that meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with R&D and production teams during the development phase.
- Equipment Management:
- Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure that molding equipment is operating optimally.
- Participate in equipment selection, installation, and validation processes.
- Quality Assurance:
- Partner with the quality team to ensure all products meet or exceed customer and industry standards.
- Develop and implement process control measures to maintain consistent quality.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to enhance process efficiency and effectiveness.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and detailed process documentation, including work instructions, process parameters, and performance metrics.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management review.
- Training and Development:
- Provide technical training and guidance to production staff and junior engineers on process operations, troubleshooting, and safety protocols.
- Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in processing within the plastics industry, specifically with injection and blow molding processes.
- Proficiency in PET, PP, HDPE processing techniques and equipment operation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
- Master Mold Certification or ability to obtain Master Mold Certification within 18 to 24 months after starting position.
Working Conditions:- The role involves working in a manufacturing environment, requiring time on the production floor as well as in an office setting.
- Occasional travel may be required for training or collaboration with other facilities.
