Position Title: Infrastructure Technology Solutions Manager (ITSM)
Description:
Working with the *** clients at the City of Santa Clara, California, business application services, technology planning & implementation and technology operations groups, this position is responsible for managing all people, processes and tools to deliver infrastructure technologies planning, design and implementation services. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key technology areas, including network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems.
Responsibilities
Planning & Architecture
Conduct research on the evolving IT marketplace, including emerging technologies, technology trends and solutions and make recommendations on products, services, architecture and standards in support of all infrastructure components.
Make recommendations for enhancements to the infrastructure technology portfolio, based on evolving technologies and operational observations.
Conduct research on emerging cloud technologies in support of infrastructure improvement efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility, based on business requirements.
Develop, document, and communicate a cloud technology standards policy.
This position is the infrastructure domain architect and works with the enterprise architect for the solutioning of complex requirements.
Solutions Design and Implementation
Design and implement short- and long-term plans to ensure infrastructure capability and capacity meets existing and future requirements, including, performance monitoring, capacity planning and workload forecasting.
Design and implement enterprise compute platforms, networks, infrastructure security, messaging systems, server virtualization, hybrid cloud infrastructure, mobile device communication, high availability and disaster recovery, VOIP telephony, endpoint devices, software distribution systems.
Development and management of the City's images across desktops, laptops and mobile devices
Management and Leadership
Provide leadership to a team of highly skilled technical resources engaged in support of the City's infrastructure technology stack.
Manage the delivery of 'managed services' and remotely based technical resources.
Plan and manage multiple concurrent infrastructure technology projects, across multiple areas.
Position Requirements:
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or a related field.
Knowledge and Experience
7 to 12 years of planning, design and implementation experience in a technology environment which includes Microsoft technologies, Cisco networks, VOIP, security solutions, similar technology architectures, and datacenter and enterprise systems management.
Good understanding of the organization's goals, objectives, core business processes and operations, along with the strategic use of technology for business value.
Proven record of success in customer satisfaction and staff management.
Strong technical knowledge of operating systems, multi-tier architectures, middle ware, web, application and database technologies.
Understanding of Hybrid cloud architectures.
Experience with infrastructure design (blueprinting), and developing conceptual, logical, and technical architectures.
Strong knowledge of hardware and software evaluation principles and practice
Knowledge of information and application security concepts.
Knowledge of end-user computing and collaborative technologies.
Experience managing a portfolio of infrastructure projects.
Experience with 'managed services' and Local Government is highly desirable.
