Full Job Description
THE WORK:

You will be the Water Sector Market Leader for the DMV Region (Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia), responsible for the development and execution of Accenture's Water business strategic growth plans across the region.

Business Development & Client Leadership

  • You'll lead the region-wide business development efforts for water, including building high-value relationships with existing and target Strategic Clients across Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.
  • You'll lead the development and execution of new business capture plans to partner with clients in solutioning their communities' water-related challenges.
  • You'll lead the marketing and sales plans to deploy our water business capabilities across the DMV market area.
  • You'll cultivate relationships with state and local government agencies, utilities, and public authorities including the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), Virginia DEQ, Delaware DNREC, and regional water authorities.


Digital Water & Transformation

  • You'll drive digital water strategy and transformation initiatives for utility clients across the DMV region, including smart water networks, IoT sensor integration, and real-time operational analytics.
  • You'll lead the development and deployment of digital twin solutions for water infrastructure assets, enabling predictive maintenance and capital investment optimization.
  • You'll champion the adoption of AI and machine learning tools for demand forecasting, leak detection, water quality monitoring, and asset performance management.
  • You'll guide clients through Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) implementations, aligning digital tools with operational workflows.
  • You'll partner with Accenture's Technology and Innovation practices to bring advanced water technology solutions - including cloud platforms, SCADA modernization, and cybersecurity for OT/IT convergence - to DMV utility clients.
  • You'll support clients in developing and executing digital transformation roadmaps, from strategy through implementation, including change management, workforce enablement, and technology adoption.
  • You'll identify and develop new digital water service offerings tailored to the regulatory and operational environment of the DMV region.


Operations & Performance Management

  • You'll lead and manage the performance of water business projects and activities across the DMV region.
  • You'll develop the annual budget and strategic objectives with input/review by the Managing Director and the ELT.
  • You'll review monthly reporting and ensure operational compliance with standards required to produce reporting including staff utilization; budget to actual revenue and EBITDA; monthly board reports; A/R and account aging reports; EEO reports.


People, Culture & Talent

  • You'll build and maintain desired corporate cultural outcomes consistent with positive engagement outcomes and psychological safety, regularly soliciting and receiving staff feedback through surveys and other interactions.
  • You'll oversee hiring, evaluation, development and termination of personnel. Perform annual and periodic review of all office/regional personnel, including incentive compensation and salary adjustments, within annual budget parameters.
  • You'll maintain standards for key business system elements, including but not limited to proposals and personal utilization targets.


Quality Assurance

  • You'll oversee quality of services being provided to clients as measured by client feedback, repeat work, surveys and other related tools. Develop/oversee corrective action plans when necessary.
  • You'll conduct other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Public Administration, Construction Management, Information Systems, or equivalent is necessary.
  • 5+ years of experience in the water industry, digital water, smart utilities, or technology transformation programs is required.


BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:

  • Master's degree, PE, CCM, PMP, CFE, COA, or LEED preferred.
  • Experience with digital twin platforms, GIS/asset management systems, SCADA modernization, or utility analytics tools (e.g., Esri, IBM Maximo, Xylem Vue, Optera, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with the regulatory frameworks of MDE, Virginia DEQ, or Delaware DNREC, and experience working with regional water/wastewater utilities such as WSSC Water, DC Water, Fairfax Water, or similar authorities.
  • Proven track record in executive leadership, management, and highly effective interpersonal and communication skills at all levels of the organization, Board members, regulatory agencies, and the public.
  • A deep understanding of professional services Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and how to motivate and hold accountable teams to deliver on these KPIs.
  • Demonstrated experience providing guidance and support to appointed and elected leadership.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills required.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills required.
  • Strong management and budgeting skills required.
  • Strong relationship building and people skills required.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, data analytics platforms, and digital project delivery tools.


$200,000 - $250,000 a year

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia or Washington as set forth below.
