Job Description
You will be the Infrared Camera Systems Engineer for the Infrared Sensor Development team at Lockheed Martin. Our team designs, builds and sustains advanced IR sensor hardware that powers next generation defense platforms, delivering high performance imaging solutions to both internal programs and external customers.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Infrared Camera Systems Engineer you will act as the technical lead and primary customer liaison for IR camera projects. You will shape future product concepts, support the production of existing systems, and guide multidisciplinary engineers through analysis, modeling, debugging and schedule management. Your responsibilities will include
• Lead technical teams (mechanical, electrical, optical) through concept development, trade studies and detailed design of IR camera subsystems.
• Perform EO/IR performance analysis and modeling of focal plane arrays, optics, thermal behavior and signal to noise ratios.
• Create and deliver clear presentations, status briefings and design review material to senior leadership and external customers.
• Assist senior engineers in planning, monitoring task progress, tracking schedules, budgets and earned value metrics; flag risks and propose mitigations.
• Interface directly with customers, engineers and technicians to resolve interface issues and ensure contractual deliverables are met.
• Conduct system level debugging and root cause troubleshooting; provide technical direction to production teams to restore performance quickly.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers, fostering an inclusive, collaborative work environment.
• Generate and maintain technical documentation (requirements, interface control documents, test procedures, failure reports) in accordance with aerospace standards.
• Support ongoing production operations while influencing the roadmap for next generation IR camera products.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an engineering, mathematics, or science field
• Engineering or Physics background
• Excellent presentation and written communications skills
• Ability to lead technical teams to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals.
• Basic understanding of infrared sensor systems and supporting, mechanical, and optical systems.
• Experience troubleshooting and performing failure analysis of sophisticated hardware.
• Ability to obtain a secret security clearance, must be a US Citizen.

Ability to work remotely
Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $79,700 - $140,530. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
