Summary

You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN) in the Directorate of Operational Technology and Cyber Innovation of NCIS.

All Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) positions are in the excepted service. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

This job will close when we have received 50 applications which may be sooner than the closing date.

Duties

Help

  • You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the cyber directorate's development, test, and operational networks through all applicable life-cycle phases.
  • You will ensure system availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency.
  • You will evaluate, analyze, and resolve challenging hardware and software-related problems.
  • You will install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware and software.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code (451), proficiency level (ADVANCED) the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Operating Linux-based systems and Python programming systems.

Designing, planning, and scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and software.

Developing and maintaining the cyber directorate's development, test, and operational networks.

Collaborating with team member to improve organization's engineering tools, systems and procedures, and data security.
