Job Summary This position exists to manage Metro State Applied Innovation Institute (MSAII)-associated projects, requests, portfolios, and standardized, and foundational processes at an advanced professional level from initialization, planning, execution, monitoring, analysis through closure.
Projects and initiatives under the purview of this position may range from medium sized and function-specific to extremely complex MSAII-directed strategic plan initiatives. These projects will often require integration or interface with university systems, Minnesota. State or external partner systems. Projects will require an understanding of Metro State University and Minnesota State business practices, organizational culture, and an awareness of services and solutions. This position will be responsible for leading projects by establishing project scope, requirements, plan, timeline, and communication, and managing stakeholder expectations, risks, fiscal responsibility, and timely project completion. Business and process analysis skills and experience are a critical element to success in this role.
Minimum Position Qualifications: - This position requires at least three years of project management experience including requirements gathering, analysis, documentation, testing, training, implementation, and process improvement.
- Experience configuring and using project and portfolio management software.
- Ability to accommodate a hybrid schedule with up to 3 days in office located in Saint Paul, MN.
Core Qualifications: - Experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously with a variety of project types (function-specific, cross-functional, technical) and sizes (small to enterprise-wide) as well as experience driving project teams to successful, quality project completion.
- Related work experience demonstrating effective written and oral communication skills including the ability to document, present and train with a focus on human relations and customer service.
- Experience creating and supporting an environment conducive to building relationships, collaborative decision-making, consensus, and conflict resolution.
- Related work experience demonstrating organization, effective communication, time management, analytical and reasoning abilities with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience analyzing and evaluating operational processes and demonstrated ability to document and implement new/revised and improved policies, procedures, and processes including experience with Microsoft Office applications including use of process documentation software (example: Microsoft Visio) to create detailed process maps.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and\or other project management certification achieved or in the process of achieving.
- Experience in higher education.
Physical Requirements of the Job: VERY LIGHT-Requires occasionally transporting such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves maintaining a stationary position for extended periods of time, a certain amount of movement is often necessary in performing job duties.
