SUMMARY OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this position is to manage projects from project request to project closure; which may include project consultations, project reporting and business relationship management.

This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Facilitates and manages project development from conceptual development through completion; identifies and manages project dependencies and critical path.
  • Guides project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders; develops best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Performs technical tasks regarding software or hardware when needed.
  • Manages project vendors and vendor contracts.
  • Participates in meetings, technical planning, recommendation of hardware and software solutions, research of potential solutions and discussions with vendors to meet business needs.
  • Communicates with leadership and staff about departmental needs, changes and goals. Provides technical consultation, support, and training to assigned areas as needed.
  • Utilizes project management software to include MS Project Management, MS Visio, Project Control Books, and other tools to manage projects and facilitate meetings and work sessions.
  • Performs related work as assigned.


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline.
  • Four (4) years of information technology, business applications or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Project Management Professional Certification, preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
