Position Summary:

The Network Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of the institution's network infrastructure, on-premises servers, and cloud environments. This role ensures reliable, scalable, and secure IT services that support academic, administrative, and research operations. The Network Manager also leads strategic initiatives involving cloud adoption, cybersecurity, and infrastructure modernization, particularly within a Microsoft Entra and Active Directory environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Network Infrastructure Management:
• Design, deploy, and maintain campus network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, WLAN).
• Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity; implement improvements as needed.
• Manage switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers for telecommunications and internet services.

Server & Systems Administration:
• Oversee on-premises and virtualized server environments (e.g., Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V).
• Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services.
• Plan and execute system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
• Maintain backup and recovery solutions to ensure data integrity.

Cloud Infrastructure (Microsoft Entra/Cloud Platforms/Integrations):
• Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure with the primary focus on Microsoft Entra and integration in a hybrid environment with on-premises systems.
• Implement automation and infrastructure solutions to streamline provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and lifecycle management across environments.
• Design and manage integrations between cloud platforms, enterprise systems, and third-party services to support academic and administrative operations while enabling secure data exchange and operational efficiency.

Cybersecurity & Compliance:
• Develop and enforce IT security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Monitor systems for security threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents.
• Manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint protection, and access controls.
• Conduct risk assessments, audits, and vulnerability scans.
• Ensure compliance with higher education regulations (e.g., GLBA, FERPA, HIPAA where applicable).

Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate documentation of network architecture, systems, and procedures.
• Generate reports on system perfo1mance, security incidents, and project progress.
• Develop and maintain disaster recove1y and business continuity plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Server Administration. This duty is performed daily, about 25% of the time.
2. Cybersecurity and Compliance. This duty is performed daily, about 30% of the time.
3. Cloud Infrastructure. This duty is performed irregularly, about 15% of the time.
4. Network Infrastructure Management. This duty is performed weekly, about 15% of the time.
5. Document and Reporting. This duty is performed irregularly, about 10% of the time.
6. Work Orders. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
7. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Security+, Network+, Microsoft certification or equivalent

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Intermediate: 10-Key, Accounting, Alphanumeric Data Entry, Contact Management, Database, Presentation/PowerPoint, Programming Languages, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing

ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE SKILLS
Oracle SQL, Scripting, PowerShell

General Days/Hours:

Summer Hours: M-Th 7:00am - 5:30pm, Off on Fridays
Regular Hours: M-Th 7:30am - 5:00pm; Fr 7:30am - 2:00pm

Other:

Minimum Qualifications:

Four-year college degree, or equivalent experience resulting in broad knowledge of a field related to the job, such as networking, computer science, Information Technology etc., plus 3 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
