Full Job Description
Duties Description Under the direction the Director of Enterprise AI, Data and Analytics (Special Assistant), NS, the Information Technology Architect 2, SG-27, will serve as the Manager of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Solutions within the Enterprise AI and Data Unit. This position will lead applied AI solution development or adoption in support of the Office of the New York State Attorney General's (OAG) operational mission. The Manager will help translate the OAG's AI strategy, by bringing advanced models and tools from concept through deployment.
• Guide the strategic direction and execution of AI adoption initiatives across the organization.
• Identify and prioritize AI use cases with the greatest organizational value.
• Develop or adopt AI solutions that align with OAG strategic goals, meet technical and security requirements, and deliver cost-effective outcomes.
• Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend integration strategies.
• Ensure that governance, ethical principles, security, and best practices are applied consistently across every AI project.
• Conduct end-to-end business process analysis to identify automation and optimization opportunities.
• Translate business challenges into technical specifications and AI-enabled solutions.
• Perform cost-benefit and ROI analyses to evaluate the value of proposed AI initiatives.
• Develop compelling business cases to gain leadership buy-in and support for projects.
• Manage full lifecycle of AI projects from ideation to post-implementation evaluation.
• Define project plans, success metrics, and delivery milestones.
• Track progress, manage risks, and resolve issues to ensure successful outcomes.
• Ensure final solutions meet both technical standards and CIO strategic goals.
• Present project updates and complex AI concepts to OAG leadership.
• Actively participate in working groups, discovery sessions, and leadership committees to provide key insights and bridge communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Design and deliver training materials to increase AI literacy.
• Drive user adoption through structured change management strategies.
• Facilitate strategic partnerships with external vendors and OAG technology and security teams.
• Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, or a related field of study.

Nine (9) years of broad information technology experience, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of AI engineering or other AI-related specialty and its application within largescale organizations.

At least five (5) years of focused experience in AI application solutions architecture, AI engineering, or a related technical role.

Substitutions:
Four years of specialized experience or an associate's degree and two years of specialized experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree.
Juris doctorate or master's degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience.
A Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree in data science, AI, or related field.
• Experience in a legal, public safety, or regulated government environment.
• AI/ML certifications (e.g., Azure AI Engineer, AWS Machine Learning Specialty).
• Knowledge of legal tech, e-discovery tools, or litigation analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with enterprise governance platforms.
• Participation in open-source AI projects or contributions to AI ethics and risk mitigation frameworks.
