Full Job Description
Data Intelligence, LLC is seeking a skilled Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support a top-tier federal client engaged in national security and counterterrorism operations. This full-time position, based in Vienna, VA, plays a critical role in securing complex IT systems in a high-visibility, mission-driven environment. The selected candidate will work closely with government and contractor stakeholders to ensure compliance, manage risk, and defend against evolving cyber threats.

This is a fully on-site position in Vienna, VA. The salary range for this position is between $105,000-$115,000 annually, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • System Security Oversight: Ensure the security and integrity of IT systems by evaluating and implementing effective security controls across complex and sensitive environments. Safeguard national security systems in alignment with government policies and security requirements.
  • Compliance Management: Work with government and contractor teams to ensure compliance with security standards, regulations, and frameworks, including NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls. Provide guidance on security-related policies and best practices to stakeholders.
  • Incident Response and Management: Lead and coordinate incident response efforts, ensuring rapid identification, containment, and mitigation of cybersecurity threats. Manage security incidents effectively and support post-event analysis to improve future defense mechanisms.
  • Security Architecture Design: Design and implement secure system architectures that align with mission-critical needs, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of sensitive information. Integrate security controls throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments, threat modeling, and vulnerability management to identify and mitigate potential threats to critical systems. Provide recommendations for risk reduction and ensure security posture aligns with mission objectives.
  • Cloud Security Expertise: Leverage deep knowledge of cloud security frameworks and controls to safeguard cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring secure deployment and operation within the cloud environment.
  • Secure Software Development Lifecycle: Advocate for and integrate secure software development practices into the software lifecycle. Ensure security is considered at every phase from design to deployment, and mentor development teams in secure coding practices.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with both government and contractor stakeholders to ensure cybersecurity objectives are met. Foster a collaborative environment to proactively address evolving cyber threats and compliance challenges.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current on emerging cyber threats and technologies, ensuring that the security posture remains robust against new and evolving challenges. Recommend and implement new security tools, processes, and strategies to improve system security.

Required Experience:
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of ISSE experience
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in the following:
    • Systems security requirements and policy
    • Working in a 24/7 operational environment
    • Incident response and management
    • Security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls
    • Cloud security frameworks and associated controls
    • Systems engineering and principles and practice
    • Secure software development lifecycle methodologies
    • Cloud security pipeline principles and technologies
    • Risk assessments, threat modeling, and vulnerability management
    • Integrating security controls into system development
    • Designing and implementing secure system architectures


Security Clearance:
  • Top Secret / SCI and with CI Polygraph
