Industrial Maintenance Mechanic – Multi-Craft

As an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and adjusting mechanical equipment, piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems used in production, laboratory, office, and utility areas.

  • Responds to Shop Work Orders in performing maintenance and repair tasks in a safe manner

  • Implements and improves preventive maintenance procedures

  • Determines parts, tools, and supplies necessary for the jobs

  • Documents work activities in the work order CMMS.

  • Willingness to learn and expand craft skills

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Two-year associate's degree in the mechanical maintenance field, or graduate from an approved apprenticeship program.

  • Five years of experience in the mechanical maintenance/troubleshooting of industrial processing equipment.

  • Must possess a current and valid driver27s license.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience troubleshooting issues with processing equipment and resolving them by implementing appropriate repairs.

  • At least one year of experience running basic machining equipment (turning, milling, welding)

  • Understanding how to safely use rigging equipment such as hoists, cranes, lift trucks, dollies, rollers, and jacks.

  • Understanding the operating principles of mechanical and hydraulic power transmission components or elements such as shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys, belts, chains, seals, fasteners, couplings, brakes, clutches, pumps, valves, and similar devices.

  • Ability to read and interpret measurement instruments to better troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with other people.

  • Ability and desire to work as a multi-skilled mechanical craftsperson.

  • Basic computer knowledge.

Pay & Benefits:

The starting rate of pay for this position is $50.03. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate27s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences, and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
