Industrial Hygienist

Role Overview:

The Industrial Hygienist is responsible for leading the site's occupational health and industrial hygiene program to protect employees from chemical, physical, and ergonomic hazards within manufacturing and laboratory environments. The role partners with operations, engineering, quality, and EHS teams to identify workplace exposures, assess risks, implement effective controls, and ensure compliance with occupational health regulations and company standards. The Industrial Hygienist also oversees exposure monitoring, analyzes exposure data, provides technical recommendations to management, and promotes continuous improvement in worker health protection programs.

This is an on site role at our Devens, MA site with expected hours 8AM-5PM M-F.

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the site Industrial Hygiene/Occupational Hygiene (IH/OH) program to protect employee health in manufacturing and laboratory environments.
• Conduct hazard assessments and characterize risks associated with potent compounds, hazardous chemicals, and other workplace exposures.
• Develop and execute exposure monitoring programs, including assessment of chemical and physical hazards such as noise and temperature.
• Analyze exposure monitoring data, interpret results, and provide recommendations to management to reduce occupational health risks.
• Evaluate and implement engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize employee exposure.
• Lead the site's ergonomics program by conducting assessments and implementing solutions to reduce ergonomic hazards.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health regulations, exposure standards, and company policies, while supporting inspections and audits.
• Develop and deliver training on occupational hygiene topics, including hazardous material handling, exposure monitoring, PPE, and ergonomics.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field.
• 4+ years of experience as Industrial or Occupational Hygiene in an industrial environment; 1+ year of experience in pharmaceutical industry preferred.
• Strong knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, including exposure monitoring, hazard characterization, risk assessment, occupational exposure limits (OELs), and exposure control strategies.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams, present technical findings to management, and deliver employee training.
• Professional certification (e.g., CIH) and/or a Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Public Health, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time while in plant, reaching, handling, twisting, and bending spine at waist if operating equipment.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this role is $105,000-$115,000. This range represents a good-faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. In exceptional cases, compensation may exceed the stated range.

All full-time employees are eligible to participate in our annual incentive bonus program. Bonus targets vary by career level and are based on individual and company performance.
