Where You Will Work

In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation's commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Located in southeastern Arizona, close to more than 4 million acres of national forest, employees and their families can connect with the great outdoors while fishing, rafting, hiking and more. Several educational institutions also are nearby, including a Northern Arizona University satellite campus, Eastern Arizona College, and the Gila Institute for Technology.

Description

Under general supervision, identify, report and recommend corrective action for a wide variety of workplace environmental factors that may adversely impact employee safety, health and productivity at assigned site. - Collects air, water, vapors, gases, and dust samples or other potentially toxic materials for analysis - Assists or conducts detailed exposure assessments, analyses of operational procedures, facility design, equipment and materials, audits, and incident investigations - Develops and recommends appropriate controls for occupational health hazards - Assists site management in complying with Freeport-McMoRan, OSHA, MHSA and other regulations and standards - Works to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws, ordinances, statutes, regulations, rules, policies and procedures - Maintains a current knowledge of Freeport-McMoRan, OSHA, MHSA and other regulations and standards - Prepares appropriate reports and presentations for management - Communicates effectively in one-on-one and group situations, both verbally and in writing - Assists in analyzing information and conclusions - Performs sampling and chemical analysis and maintain inspection records - Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, or closely related Scientific or Technical discipline with no experience required - Knowledge of and ability to use fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of Industrial Hygiene - General knowledge of chemical analysis, equipment and processes in order to assist in analyzing information and drawing conclusions - Strong analytical skills - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and group situations, both verbally and in writing - Ability to perform sampling and chemical analysis and to maintain inspection records - Ability to maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $70,000-$95,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
