Industrial Engineer Position Summary:The Industrial Engineer will play a key role within the Automation & Manufacturing Engineering team, driving operational excellence through data-driven analysis, facility layout optimization, and the development of standardized machine processes. This role supports the full lifecycle of new equipment and automation initiatives-from justification and specification through installation, training, and handover to production. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capability with hands-on manufacturing experience and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesFacility & Process Optimization- Develop, update, and optimize facility layouts to support efficient material flow and scalable production capacity.
- Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and capacity modeling to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross function teams to ensure layouts align with equipment requirements, safety standards, and future expansion plans.
Data Analytics & Capital Justification- Analyze production data, machine performance, labor utilization, and throughput to support development of business cases for new equipment or automation initiatives.
- Develop ROI models, payback analyses, and scenario comparisons to support capital expenditure requests.
- Support presentation of complex technical and operational data into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.
Machine Process Development- Define and document machine processing steps, including standard work instructions, job aids, and operator workflows.
- Partner with Automation Manager to ensure machine capabilities, cycle times, and quality requirements are accurately reflected in process documentation.
- Support PFMEA, control plan development, and risk assessments for new or modified processes.
Project Execution & Production Handover- Serve as a liaison between engineering, vendors, and production teams during equipment installation, commissioning, and validation.
- Coordinate operator training, ensuring readiness for safe and efficient machine operation.
- Support ramp-up activities, troubleshoot early-stage issues, and ensure a smooth transition to steady-state production.
- Maintain project documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives post-launch.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 2-5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or automation-related roles.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar).
- Experience with facility layout tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma manufacturing principles, time studies, and standard work development.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and vendor teams.
- Hands-on approach with a willingness to be on the production floor to validate processes and support installations.
Preferred Skills- Experience supporting automation projects or machine integrations.
- Knowledge of MES, SCADA, or machine data capture systems (e.g., Ignition).
- Exposure to PFMEA, control plans, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
