Industrial Engineer

Position Summary

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing manufacturing processes for new product launches within the Battery Business Group. This role partners with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, efficient, and scalable manufacturing solutions that meet quality, cost, safety, and delivery objectives.

The Industrial Engineer plays a key role throughout the APQP and industrialization processes, supporting product development, manufacturing readiness, equipment validation, continuous improvement initiatives, and production launch activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and implement industrialization activities for new product launches in accordance with OPmobility's program management and APQP methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Program Management, and Operations to ensure successful product launches.
  • Support manufacturing facilities in identifying and resolving process, equipment, and quality issues through structured root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing deliverables including:
    • PFMEA
    • Process Flow Diagrams
    • Standardized Work Instructions
    • Capacity Analysis
    • Manufacturing Documentation
  • Utilize engineering and manufacturing tools such as DFM&A, GD&T, AutoCAD, Lean Manufacturing principles, and Project Management methodologies to optimize manufacturability and production efficiency.
  • Support and/or lead the development of manufacturing process specifications, production equipment specifications, and assembly solutions.
  • Coordinate and support equipment validation activities, including process qualification and compliance with internal engineering standards.
  • Evaluate new product designs for manufacturability and collaborate with Product Engineering to implement design improvements that enhance quality, cost, and production performance.
  • Support simulation and analysis activities, including FEA and CFD studies, to assess manufacturability and process performance.
  • Participate in feasibility reviews, lean workshops, value engineering initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Contribute to process optimization projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Document and apply lessons learned and best practices to future programs and manufacturing operations.
  • Support launch activities through production ramp-up and handoff to the manufacturing organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • 2-5 years of manufacturing and/or industrial engineering experience.
  • Experience with:
    • PFMEA
    • Process Flow Development
    • GD&T
    • APQP methodologies
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship or transfer requirements.


Preferred
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting new product launches and industrialization activities.
  • Experience within battery systems, electrification, plastics processing, molding, assembly, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of DFM&A, AutoCAD, FEA, and CFD analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0, automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
