Woodard & Curran is growing, and we are seeking an Industrial Electricianfor a water treatment facility in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida! TheIndustrial Electricianis responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, replacing, and maintaining electrical and electronic systems and their components in a water treatment plant setting.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7.00am - 3.30pm, with participation in an on-call rotation with another electrician on site as needed. Must be available for emergency call-outs.
What Will You Be Doing At Woodard & Curran?- Convert facility's controls from outdated technology to an up to date SCADA (Supervisory, Control, AndData Acquisition) system.
- Install and repair electrical systems and devices in and around city buildings.
- Test electrical systems and equipment; detect causes of electrical failures and malfunctions; replace and/or repair components.
- Ensure compliance of electrical systems and equipment with applicable codes.
- Review electrical projects for upgrades; read and prepare electrical diagrams.
- Maintain inventory and order materials or services.
- Maintain records of work performed.
- Assist in preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
- Use and knowledgeable of digital tools and asset management systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, standard operating procedures, and applicable electrical codes.
- Work around medium voltage, rotating equipment and various hazardous chemicals.
- Calculate line loading leads to determine wire and equipment size and capacity.
- Prepare sketches for electrical layouts and installation.
- Read and interpret specifications, schematics, blueprints and diagrams.
- May be required to perform "stand-by duty", being available and responding to off-duty emergency call-ins to effect repairs to malfunctioning electrical, electronic and/or instrument systems.
- Perform related work as required.
What You Will Need To Succeed:- Four plus years' experience in industrial/commercial electrical systems, instrumentation and/or electronics.
- Must possess a valid Journeyman electrician license or Certificate of Competency issued by the Broward County Central Examining Board.
- Must possess experience working with both low and medium voltage electrical equipment.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Requires good reading, math, writing, and verbal communication skills; a good scientific and mechanical aptitude; and the ability to read, interpret, and record data from meters, gauges, scales, panels, and other equipment.
- Requires the ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Work positions include working with hands extended above head 18 inches (10%), and 30 inches in front of body (50%), squatting or kneeling (20%), and performing administrative tasks (20%).
- Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds while walking distances of 25 feet.
- Must possess a valid Florida driver's license, have a safe driving record, and be able to operate vehicles with automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.
- Requires working in outside and inside environments with noise and all temperatures and climatic and environmental conditions; and must be able to work under adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
$45 - $60 an hour
Depending upon experience and certification.
