The opportunity

EY's Incentives and Capital Investments team helps companies access government incentives that support innovation, growth and investment across Canada. We're looking for a Tax Staff or Senior Tax Staff with a background in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related applied science discipline to join our Vancouver team and support clients throughout Western Canada.

You'll work with companies that are solving real-world challenges through innovation, collaborate with technical and business leaders to understand complex projects and help clients access incentives that support growth and investment. This is an opportunity to apply your technical background in a client-facing role, gain exposure to diverse industries, and develop expertise in a specialized and evolving area of tax and innovation.

Your key responsibilities:
  • Meeting with client representatives including CEOs, CTOs, Technical Managers, and Engineers to evaluate their Research and Development projects and prepare SRED claims.
  • Assessing project's eligibility, establishing its value and writing technical project descriptions detailing the innovation and experimental activities.
  • Engaging in discussions on new prototypes, experimental trials, process improvements, and new product development for leading companies in Canada.
  • Coordinating, preparing, and participating in SRED reviews with CRA auditors.
  • Managing the technical submission process which includes formulating and writing technical SRED submissions.

Requirements:
  • A Degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Physics or Chemical, Mining or Mechanical Engineering,
  • A Graduate's Degree in any of the noted applied sciences disciplines is a strong asset.

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.

Vancouver:
  • Tax Staff - $60,000 - $90,000
  • Senior Tax Staff - $76,000 - $114,000
