Precise Systems seeks a In-Situ Toxicologist to support our U.S. Army customer in Edgewood, Maryland

This role requires in-person support

Duties:
  • Supports day-to-day in-vitro laboratory experimental tasks and procedures, including but not limited to, tissue culture (i.e. primary, eukaryotic, and differentiated lineages) and the formation of complex 3D organoid/spheroid/MPS architectures (i.e. organ chip technologies) for use in toxicological assessments and research method development.
  • Research efforts shall include determination of novel biomarkers of exposure, advanced morphological characterization, physiological response measurements, phenotypic changes, and molecular pathway elucidation for both known and unknown toxicological compounds of interest.
  • Operates independently with planning/executing assigned tasks, adapting methods and instrumentation to resolve problems, organizing data, analyzing data, interpreting results, determining conclusions, presenting data, authoring reports and manuscripts, and contributing to proposal writing.
  • Interacts as part of an interdisciplinary team of technical staff, and principal investigators.
  • Must be able to work in a team, communicating completed tasks, communicating needed tasks. Adaptability to experimental changes in real time. Reliably communicates with team members about task/program progress.

Required Education:
  • Minimum master's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field

Required Experience:
  • Must have three (3) or more years of research experience in either an academic, government or industry laboratory.
  • Experience with several advanced laboratory cellular biology and tissue culture techniques, to include but not limited to, receptor-based screens, microphysiological systems, stem cell differentiation, microscopy, and cell staining.
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with other research teams.
  • Ability to learn new techniques and expand abilities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for audiences with varying technical backgrounds
  • Effective time management skills; self-starter; attention to detail
  • Ability to independently design and execute experiments; demonstrate critical thinking/problem solving
  • Ability to assist with other duties as assigned
  • Ability to complete additional training as assigned

Desired Experience:
  • Experience with delegating project tasks and project management
  • Background in in vitro neurotoxicology
  • Experience in in vitro immunology

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $76,709.46 - $86,064.18 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.
