About the Opportunity

Miller Johnson is seeking an experienced Business Immigration Member to join our Immigration Practice Group in Detroit. The successful candidate will maintain a sophisticated business immigration practice advising U.S. and multinational employers on employment-based visa matters, permanent residence strategies, labor certification, and employer compliance.

This opportunity is ideal for an entrepreneurial, collaborative attorney with an established practice who is interested in building strong client relationships, growing Miller Johnson's business immigration presence in Southeast Michigan, and mentoring others within the Immigration Practice Group.

What You'll Do

As a Member of our Immigration Practice Group, you will:

• Maintain a sophisticated business immigration practice, including temporary worker non-immigrant visa petitions such as E Treaty Trader/Treaty Investor, H-1B Specialty Occupation Worker, L-1 Intracompany Transfer, O-1 Extraordinary Ability, TN, and J-1 Exchange Visitor matters.
• Prepare and manage labor certification applications for permanent resident status.
• Handle employment-based permanent resident petitions for multinational executives and managers, outstanding researchers and professors, and individuals of extraordinary ability.
• Advise and defend employers in immigration-related enforcement and compliance matters, including I-9 audits and H-1B public access file documentation audits.
• Mentor associates, counsel, and summer associates within the Immigration Practice Group and support their professional development.
• Model a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive practice environment while contributing to the continued growth and development of the Immigration Practice Group.

What You Bring

The successful candidate will bring sophisticated business immigration experience, strong client relationships, entrepreneurial drive, and a desire to contribute to the continued growth of our Detroit office and Immigration Practice Group.

Qualifications include:

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admission to the Michigan State Bar or eligibility to waive into Michigan.
• 8-12 years of business immigration experience.
• A strong business immigration practice and demonstrated success developing and maintaining client relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, collaborate, and contribute to office and practice growth.
• Strong client-service orientation and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in identifying opportunities to expand client relationships and develop new business.
• Commitment to mentoring junior talent and contributing to a positive, collaborative office culture.
