Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, University of Chicago Medicine, as a Therapy Clinical Supervisor in the Home Care department.

The Therapy Clinical Supervisor oversees the clinical performance, development, and compliance of therapy staff, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and therapy assistants-within the home health program. This role ensures high-quality patient care, adherence to regulatory standards, and effective coordination between interdisciplinary team members. The supervisor provides clinical guidance, conducts performance evaluations, and supports therapists in delivering safe, evidence-based, patient-centered services in the home setting.

This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the Harvey, IL area.

Essential Job Functions

Clinical Supervision & Team Support
  • Provide clinical supervision and support to therapy field staff, including PT, OT, SLP, and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for complex patient situations, symptom management, and therapy services.
  • Oversee caseload assignments, productivity expectations, and scheduling in collaboration with leadership.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences and care planning meetings
  • Conduct supervisory visits in the field to ensure safe, effective, and compliant care delivery.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, orientation, and ongoing competency validation of clinical staff.
  • Complete performance evaluations and address performance concerns in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Ensure clinical documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Act as a liaison between field staff, physicians, medical directors, and other care partners.


Quality, Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
  • Conduct routine and focused clinical record reviews to ensure documentation supports the plan of care and services provided.
  • Review comprehensive assessments and care plans to ensure they are individualized and meet Medicare and accreditation requirements.
  • Support the organization's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities, including data collection and performance initiatives.
  • Manage Epic EHR work queues to support documentation completion, timeliness, and revenue cycle integrity.
  • Coordinate and follow up on Additional Documentation Requests (ADRs) from Medicare and other payers, including record review and timely submission.
  • Identify documentation trends and provide feedback and education to reduce denials and compliance risk.
  • Support continuous survey readiness and participate in surveys, audits, and corrective action planning.


Leadership & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Participate in departmental, clinical, and organizational leadership meetings.
  • Mentor and support staff to promote professional development, engagement, and retention.
  • Ensure standard clinical workflows and processes are established and followed.
  • Act as a responsible steward of organizational resources and clinical budgets.
  • Collaborate with the physicians and other organizational leaders.
  • Follow up on grievances, adverse events, errors, and patient injuries in a timely and effective manner.


Required Qualifications
  • Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in home health or a related setting.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare home health regulations and documentation standards.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel for field supervision and home visits.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills, detail oriented, and effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission standards, and Illinois home health regulations.
  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record or comparable EHR system.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
