DescriptionNorthrop Grumman Defense Systems currently has an opening for a
Principal Systems Engineer. This position is located in
Clearfield, UT and will support ICBM – Sustainment.
What you will get to do:
As a member of the ICBM-S assessment team, you will get to:
- Develop innovative approaches to analyzing weapon system data with statistics and data analysis to help sustain and maintain the Minuteman III (MMIII) weapon system
- Analyze failure and performance data across ICBM subsystems
- Develop engaging visualizations and reports to show MMIII data trends and results
- Prepare presentations and reports to brief Northrop Grumman and Air Force leadership on the status of weapon system assessment and risks
- Participate and lead risk management of weapon system parts and subsystems
- Dynamically engage with AF customers to meet their needs and provide them with needed insight for sustainment of the ICBM weapon system
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience; 3 years of experience with a Masters’ degree in STEM; or 1 year of experience with a PhD.
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
- Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- 2 years of hands-on experience with data analytics, automation, or coding (e.g., Python, R, or similar)
- 1 year of experience using advanced data analytics tools and techniques to provide insight into complex system or weapon-system conditions
- 1 year of experience designing, implementing, and using data models to create reports and visualizations for large data sets
- 1 year of experience analyzing data trends, identifying patterns, and developing predictive or statistical models to support project performance metrics, risk management, and process improvement initiatives, and to ensure compliance with government regulations and contract requirements
- 2 years of experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- 2 years of experience working with large, complex, or multi-source datasets
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- Experience working with DoD or Air Force customers
- Experience collaborating directly with program managers, engineers, and government stakeholders to define data requirements and reporting solutions
- Experience working with and designing relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) and data pipelines/ETL processes
- Experience building dashboards and data visualizations for leadership decision-making
- Experience applying statistical methods or machine learning techniques to develop predictive models
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to ensure data quality and integrity (e.g., data validation, reconciliation, QA processes)

This position's standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
