Full Job Description
The Clinical Director (CD) of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) service line is a leadership role responsible for ensuring high-quality treatment to the learner and family. The CD-ABA must ensure that client delivery of services adheres to best-practice standards and evidence-based treatment models while remaining compatible with Intensive Behavior Health Services (IBHS) regulations and Manage Care Organization (MCO) and commercial payor guidelines. The CD-ABA is expected to lead their team and provide ongoing guidance and support to enhance professional development and quality of services delivered by each clinical member.

Roles/Responsibilities:

The Clinical Director (CD) of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) service line is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • The CD-ABA will provide leadership and collaboration with BC/MT/BA/BC-ABA workers and ensures that all Intensive Behavior Health Services (IBHS) regulations are followed and are within the specified timeframes as dictated by Matrix Behavior Solutions, LLC policy and IBHS regulations.
  • The CD-ABA will provide supervision to BC/MT/BA/BC-ABA (1-hour a month face-to-face or 2-hours a month for those BC/MT/BA/BC-ABA who offer supervision to BHT/BHT-ABAs and Assistant BC-ABA, 30-minutes every 6-months of direct observation) staff and ensures that their service is meeting IBHS regulatory requirements, Matrix Behavior Solutions, LLC policies and procedures, best-practice standards, and evidence-based practices.
  • The CD-ABA will provide support, guidance, and training for professional development for clinical staff during supervision and documentation review.
  • The CD-ABA will evaluate clinical competency of supervisees and complete routine performance evaluations.
  • The CD-ABA will perform routine audit of the clinical records of supervisees and validate the quality and quantity of services provided.
    • Internal audits of session notes and data collection systems provided through Central Reach
    • Audit findings may be provided and reviewed by the Senior Clinical Director, Administrative Director, Chief Clinical Officer, and Compliance Officer.
  • The CD-ABA will maintain clinical supervision as well if rendering IBHS treatment to clients.
  • The CD-ABA will ensure adherence to best practice treatment models that align with mental health licensing boards.
  • The CD-ABA will maintain effective communication with colleagues, supervisors, and all appropriate parties regarding Treatment Updates, Assessments, and Individualized Treatment Plans.
  • The CD-ABA will participate in commercial payor requests for additional information and peer reviews for the approval of treatment submissions related to learners under their clinical team supervision
  • The CD-ABA will comply with all Matrix Behavior Solutions, LLC documentation standards in accordance with MCO and commercial payor requirements.
  • The CD-ABA will meet company policy to review within designated timeframes as it relates to assessments, treatment plans, and mid-review forms.
  • The CD-ABA will review all documentation to ensure it meets OMHSAS, MCO, commercial payor, and Matrix Behavior Solutions standards and expectations for submission.
  • The CD-ABA can deliver learner-based services, such as RBT direct supervision and/or direct care if it does not impact their ability to lead their team and perform the responsibilities of the position.
  • The CD-ABA is expected to manage up to14 supervisees, and willing to work within their scope of competency, training, and education to ensure best practice standards and effective treatment outcomes are achieved


Qualifications:

The Clinical Director (CD) of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) must possess, at a minimum:
  • Be licensed in this Commonwealth as a physician practicing psychiatry, psychologist, certified registered nurse practitioner, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, clinical social worker, behavior specialist, social worker or other professional with a scope of practice that includes overseeing the provision of ABA services and have a certification as a BCBA or other graduate-level certification in behavior analysis and a minimum of 2 years of experience in providing ABA services.
  • Professional with a scope of practice that includes overseeing the provision of ABA services and have one of the following:
    • A certification as a BCBA or other graduate-level certification in behavior analysis.
    • A graduate degree or graduate certificate in ABA and a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in providing ABA services.
    • Be licensed in this Commonwealth as a psychologist and have a minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in providing clinical oversight of an ABA program and a minimum of 40 hours of training related to ABA.
    • Be licensed in this Commonwealth as a psychologist and have a graduate degree or graduate certificate in ABA.


Staff must have appropriate background checks, transcripts of their degree, and clearances to work in direct contact with children and adolescents (ACT 33, 34 and FBI clearances) and be able to participate in Medicaid and Medicare programs. Must also complete the NSOR (National Sex Offender Registry) Verification, as well as an active Mandated Reporting Certificate (Act 31).
