The IAM Engineer will play a critical role in bridging gaps across identity and access management initiatives, serving as a key liaison between infrastructure, security, and application teams. This individual will help drive workflow improvements, ensure seamless integration across multiple identity platforms, and support a complex hybrid environment. This position is a hybrid role based in Durham, NC.
Responsibilities of the IAM Engineer:
• Serve as a key resource for understanding and improving identity and access management workflows across the organization.
• Bridge communication and technical gaps between security, infrastructure, application, and business teams.
• Manage and support identity platforms including Okta, Azure AD/Entra ID, and other IAM technologies within a diverse environment.
• Analyze and document identity lifecycle processes, access controls, and authentication workflows.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve user provisioning, role management, and access governance practices.
• Ensure seamless integration between IAM platforms, enterprise applications, and cloud services.
• Assist in troubleshooting complex authentication, authorization, and federation issues.
• Support ongoing IAM modernization and process optimization initiatives.
Qualifications of the IAM Engineer:
• 5+ years of experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM).
• Strong hands-on experience with Okta and Azure AD/Entra ID.
• Experience working within environments that leverage multiple IAM platforms and authentication technologies.
• Understanding of SSO, MFA, federation, identity governance, and user lifecycle management processes.
• Experience evaluating and documenting business workflows related to identity management and access controls.
• Ability to understand integrations between IAM solutions, enterprise applications, cloud platforms, and security tools.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience with PowerShell, automation, or IAM-related scripting tools is preferred.
Compensation for the IAM Engineer includes:
• Salary range: $130,000 - $145,000 depending on experience
