Full Job Description
Vysus Group is seeking experienced Senior and Principal I&C Control System Designers to support major nuclear, fuel-cycle, advanced reactor, and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects in the United States.

These positions support highly regulated and safety-critical nuclear projects involving instrumentation and controls design, digital systems integration, multidisciplinary EPC execution, and advanced 3D modeling and CAD design activities.

Locations: Houston, Texas | Greenville, South Carolina

The Senior and Principal I&C Control System Designers provide advanced design and drafting expertise for complex nuclear and industrial projects. The role includes responsibility for instrumentation and control system design activities, 3D modeling, CAD design development, field walkdowns, multidisciplinary coordination, and support for project execution activities.

Principal Designers are expected to provide technical leadership, design oversight, mentoring, and coordination support across complex projects and teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and modify instrumentation and control design drawings, layouts, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and installation details
  • Support 3D modeling and 2D CAD design activities using engineering design software tools
  • Prepare control panel layouts, junction box layouts, instrument location plans, and cable routing designs
  • Support SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) database development, reporting, and loop generation activities
  • Interpret engineering field information and perform field walkdowns with minimal supervision
  • Coordinate with engineers, designers, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Support procurement, construction, and project execution activities
  • Support estimates, schedules, staffing forecasts, and progress reporting activities

Bachelor of Science degree is required in either Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or any related engineering discipline.
Senior Engineer - Significant experience in engineering and construction drafting, preferably within the nuclear sector, with strong technical knowledge and proficiency in relevant drafting practices and standards.
Principal Engineer - Extensive experience in engineering and construction drafting, preferably within the nuclear sector, with demonstrated technical leadership and a proven track record of contributing to complex engineering projects.

Candidates should demonstrate experience in several of the following areas:
  • Nuclear facility engineering
  • EPC project delivery
  • Advanced reactors and SMR projects
  • Instrumentation and control system design
  • Wiring and loop diagrams
  • P&ID development and review
  • Control system design and networking
  • Instrument installation details and layouts
  • Control panel and junction box layouts
  • SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) databases
  • 3D modeling and CAD design development
  • Engineering field walkdowns and drawing updates
  • Multidisciplinary engineering coordination
  • Regulatory and quality compliance

Preferred Experience
  • U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) project experience
  • Nuclear quality assurance programmes (ASME NQA-1)
  • Experience with Nat'l Electrical Code NFPA 70/70E
  • Experience with Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA) concepts
  • Fuel-cycle or enrichment facility experience
  • Manufacturing, Commercial, Industrial or Oil Gas/Chemicals facility projects
  • Practical field, commissioning, or startup experience
  • Experience leading engineering teams and project execution

Software and Tools Experience

Experience with engineering software and design platforms such as Navisworks, SmartPlant Review, Instrucalc, AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation, Smart 3D (S3D), Revit, and other 3D modeling and 2D Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) tools is preferred.
