Missions/Main Duties
  • Act as a technical expert and project manager for hydrological and hydraulic studies related to heavy and intercity railway projects.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and conduct flood, erosion, and bank stability risk analyses, including hydraulic modeling of rivers, watersheds, and drainage networks.
  • Support the sizing and design of hydraulic structures (culverts, bridges, retention basins, bank protections, etc.) in accordance with current provincial and federal standards.
  • Supervise and train a team of professionals and junior engineers, ensure technical mentoring and the quality management of deliverables.
  • Participate in the planning and supervision of field activities (surveys, inspections, in-situ measurements).
  • Draft and review technical reports, calculation notes, plans and specifications, and contribute to the preparation of service proposals.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (environment, civil engineering, structures, geotechnics, etc.) and ensure coordination with clients, partners, and regulatory authorities.
  • Support the analysis of climate change impacts on railway infrastructure and recommend adaptation measures.
  • Participate in technology monitoring and the development of new approaches in hydrological/hydraulic modeling and risk management.
Profile/Skills

Education : Master’s degree in water science, hydrotechnics, water resources, environmental sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Years of experience : Demonstrated experience (minimum 10 years, ideally 15+) in hydrotechnical engineering applied to transport infrastructure projects, including the management of complex projects.

Technical competencies :

  • Demonstrated expertise in hydrological analysis, hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, PCSWMM, MIKE, InfoWorks, etc.), and the analysis of hydrometeorological data.
  • Experience in the design and sizing of hydraulic structures (culverts, bridges, retention basins, erosion protection, etc.).
  • Proficiency in applicable provincial (MTQ, MTO, MELCCFP, etc.) and federal standards and guidelines.
  • Asset: experience in environmental compensation project management, climate change adaptation, or research and development.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English.*
